Registered Nurse - Antepartal Nurse

UNLV Health
Las Vegas, NV, United States
Full-time
We are sorry. The job offer you are looking for is no longer available.

The Maternal-Fetal Medicine (MFM) Antepartal Nurse is crucial in supporting pregnant individuals during their prenatal care.

The primary focus of an outpatient MFM antepartal nurse is to monitor the well-being of both the pregnant individual and the fetus by assessing fetal health and identifying any potential risks to reduce the occurrence of stillbirth.

Techniques include evaluating fetal heart rate patterns, real-time ultrasonography, and umbilical artery Doppler velocimetry.

The goal is to detect signs of fetal hypoxemia, acidosis, and other conditions that may lead to fetal distress or stillbirth.

They assist with differentiating between normal and abnormal fetal heart rate patterns and promote appropriate, physiologically based clinical decisions.

They collaborate with the Maternal Fetal Medicine Physician by identifying and relaying information about fetal monitoring to improve perinatal outcomes and reduce fetal / infant morbidity and mortality.

They assist in referring physician communication, documentation, resident education, and transition of patients to hospital care.

They organize patients' blood pressure logs for hypertensive diseases during pregnancy, organize patients' glucose records for diabetes in pregnancy management, and organize labs in anticipation of the maternal-fetal medicine E / M consultation.

They help the maternal-fetal medicine physician and staff consider the risk factors, comorbidities, and individual circumstances that determine when and if follow-up antenatal fetal surveillance is appropriate.

Their expertise contributes to safer pregnancies and healthier outcomes while increasing the technical revenue of the maternal-fetal medicine division.
