Job Summary Reporting to the CFO, this position will be responsible for the Company’s accounting function, cost controls and accounting policies and procedures.
These responsibilities include the general ledger, fixed assets, accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, journal entries, month-end close, payroll, tax reporting (domestic and international), consolidated financial statement preparation, and ensuring that statutory compliance and reporting requirements are met.
As a senior member of the finance team, this position is responsible for establishing and maintaining a work environment focused on quality and fostering learning, respect, open communication, collaboration and teamwork.
Responsibilities· Manage the daily accounting operations, that include, but may not be limited to : o Month end and year end processeso accounts payable / receivableo Collections, cash receipts, cash planning and forecastingo treasury, budgetingo general ledgero payroll and utilitieso all balance sheet account statement reconciliations, including capital assetso check runs, domestic and international wireso fixed asset activityo debt activity· Work with outside tax preparers to generate all required tax returns on a timely basis· Ensure compliance to tax and governmental reporting requirements· Coordinate and complete annual audits· Manage the accounting systems and supervise the implementation of new systems· Establish and enforce proper accounting methods, policies and principles· Develop and maintain strong internal controls· Help prepare monthly, quarterly and annual consolidated financial statements in accordance with GAAP· Establish and maintain records to document all transactions· Prepare, process and record payroll for Canada and US· Work with purchasing team to ensure invoices are received and recorded in the appropriate period· Process monthly bank reconciliations and record cash transactions daily including the management of FSA account transactions· Manage invoicing of customers and assist with collections· Function as the administrator for company credit card accounts and ensure credit card transactions are recorded correctly· Assist with annual 401K auditEducation, Experience and Skills· Strong US GAAP accounting skills with 8+ years of increasingly responsible accounting and reporting experience· High proficiency in NetSuite ERP· Domestic / international tax planning and reporting experience· Experience in customer and vendor contract review and negotiations· Proven ability to effectively plan, organize and complete multiple complex activities, priorities and assignments on a timely basis in a fast-paced environment· Strong research and analytical ability, with the capability to effectively evaluate and implement solutions to accounting problems· Strong leadership, management, organizational and interpersonal skills· Must possess the ability to interface and communicate effectively with all levels of management and functional areas in the organization.
