Senior Software Engineer – Front End - Houston, TX

Position Summary :

The Senior Software Engineer Front End plays a crucial role in developing and maintaining responsive, user-friendly web applications that enhance Empower’s digital experience.

This position collaborates closely with backend developers and User Interface / User Experience (UI / UX) designers to create scalable, high-performance solutions while ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations like the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).

By optimizing for speed, accessibility, and usability, the role directly supports Empower’s mission to improve access to affordable, quality medications that help people live healthier lives.

Duties and Responsibilities :

Develops and maintains responsive, scalable web applications using Angular and related technologies, ensuring optimal performance across devices.

Collaborates with backend developers, UI / UX designers, and product managers to create user-centric, intuitive interfaces that align with project goals.

Integrates frontend applications with Representational State Transfer (REST) APIs for seamless data flow, while adhering to security, accessibility, and performance best practices, especially under healthcare regulations like HIPAA.

Builds modular, mobile-first web components using TypeScript and JavaScript, and implements custom Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) with Tailwind and Bootstrap.

Troubleshoots, debugs, and optimizes applications, staying up to date with the latest frontend trends and participating in code reviews to ensure code quality.

Knowledge and Skills :

Excellent problem-solving and collaboration skills, with a focus on working within healthcare or regulated industries, and knowledge of healthcare regulations such as the HIPAA.

Proficient in front-end technologies like HyperText Markup Language version 5, CSS version 3, JavaScript / TypeScript, and frameworks such as Angular, React, and Vue.

Experience and Qualifications :

Minimum of 7 years of experience in frontend development with a strong focus on Angular.

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

Strong experience integrating frontend applications with backend services via RESTful APIs, and familiarity with version control systems like Git and Continuous Integration / Delivery pipelines.
