Job Description

Summary

The purpose of this position is to conduct research focused on the immune response and its effects on ocular disease, especially neovascular disease.

The successful applicant will use their existing expertise to complete studies currently underway in the laboratory.

Knowledge, skills, and abilities needed upon job entry : A PhD in life sciences is required for application. At least five (5) years of experience as a postdoctoral

researcher is required. Successful applicants will be highly skilled in bench science, including molecular biology, immunology and microscopy.

MUSC Minimum Training and Experience : A Ph.D., M.D. or equivalent with two years postdoctorate experience.

Guidelines and supervision employee will receive in order to perform duties, including the employee’s independence and discretion : Employee will receive daily

supervision from the PI, but will also be capable of working independently over extended periods of time.

MUSC Minimum Requirements :

A Ph.D., M.D. or equivalent with two years post doctorate experience.

Preferred Requirements :

A PhD in life sciences is required for application. At least five (5) years of experience as a postdoctoral

researcher is required. Successful applicants will be highly skilled in bench science, including molecular biology, immunology and microscopy.

Job Duties :

Perform flow cytometry and imaging analyses of ocular tissue 35%

Conduct ex vivo studies of angiogenesis, including choroidal sprouting assay, cell co-culture studies, and primary culture 30%

Organize and analyze results of physiological, biochemical and molecular measurements with computer software (specialized imaging software, Excel, Prism,

Flowjo, and others) 30%

Other duties as assigned 5%
