Director of Project Development

Chapel Hill - Durham - Raleigh / Remote, office as needed

$175 - 200k base + up to 25% bonus

The company has successfully developed over 1.5GW of solar energy across multiple states, with over 10GW in development.

About the Role

Responsibilities :

  • Lead end-to-end development activities : site origination, negotiate agreements, and manage permitting and utility interconnections.
  • Build long-term relationships with site owners, energy users, and other key stakeholders to drive project success.
  • Communicate effectively with community members, local governments, and stakeholders to facilitate project support and permitting.
  • Manage project timelines and budgets, ensuring development stays on track and within cost parameters.
  • Oversee external consultants and support teams as needed to streamline project permitting and approvals.

Technical :

  • 4-8 years of experience in the energy industry, focused on utility-scale projects
  • Proven experience in land acquisition and strong relationships with stakeholders & governments.
  • Extensive understanding of permitting processes & interconnection applications.
  • Willingness and ability to travel as needed for project development tasks.
