The Department of Art, Media, and Design at California State University San Marcos seeks a part-time lecturer for fall 2024 to teach AMD 322 Contemporary Women Artists.
This is an upper division lecture course that meets in person.
Course Description
- Examines issues crucial to women as visual artists. Subject may include how women use art as a means of self-expression and as a strategy for examining cultural values;
- the relationship between artistic production and women’s traditional acts of reproduction; society’s perception of women as artists;
and provocative debates introduced into feminist thinking and art by reconsiderations of the charged arena of sexual difference.
Minimum qualifications :
- A master's degree or equivalent experience in art history, theory, or production.
- Current publications, creative work, or public presentations that demonstrate expertise in art history / theory relevant to the topic.
- Teaching experience at the college level or equivalent
- Per the California State University’s Out-of-State Employment Policy, the CSU is prohibited from hiring employees to perform CSU-related work outside California.
Working in the State of California is a condition of employment.
Preferred qualifications :
- Two years or more teaching experience on college level
- Preference will be given to applicants with demonstrated commitment to diversity, inclusivity, and / or intercultural competence with diverse groups in relation to teaching.
Salary commensurate with degree level and experience
- Anticipated Hiring Salary Range : $5,007 - $8,000 per full-time month
- CSU Classification Salary Range : $5,007 - $12,594 per full-time month
