AtkinsRéalis seeks an energetic Civil Engineer to join our Denver, Colorado, Civil Engineering Group. Our civil engineers do it all site plans, grading plans, public streets, utilities, and stormwater facilities.

They work on local, state and federal projects that include small, medium and large sites, design-bid-build, and design-build projects.

Our civil engineers work on, and may travel to, federal projects throughout North America, as well as Europe and the Middle East.

  • Our Denver office works on a variety of exciting projects for Federal agencies such as the Department of Defense, the US Army Corps of Engineers, and the Federal Emergency Management Agency;
  • State agencies such as Colorado Parks & Wildlife Department and Colorado Department of Transportation; local municipalities including Douglas County, Boulder County, City of Longmont and the City of Denver;

local and national land developers; and many more clients too numerous to list.

How will you contribute to the team?

Applies standard engineering practices and techniques in specific situations which may include the following :

Assists in the planning, design, and production of engineering drawings. May supervise the production of these drawings.

Carries out specific assignments in preparing and assembling specifications.

  • Participates in conducting engineering investigations and planning work by completing well-defined tasks. These tasks may include collection and analysis of data using established procedures, performance of routine calculations, and participation in evaluating the feasibility of alternate solutions.
  • Prepares assigned sections of reports working under the close review of a more experienced professional.
  • Participates on projects involving construction activities by reviewing shop drawings for conformance with easily interpreted specifications;

assists in recordkeeping and in generating progress reports; observes relatively simple construction procedures, and collect samples for quality control testing

  • Performs data acquisition and analysis, researching the feasibility of alternative design approaches, site conditions, and / or regulatory agency specifications or regulations.
  • Prepares material for reports and permit applications, gathering information, writing rough outline, and / or preparing work progression documents and graphic presentations.
  • Performs engineering calculations.
  • Performs field observations of construction where appropriate.

Special Skills

  • AutoCAD and Civil 3D knowledge and understanding required.
  • Land Development experience is preferred.
  • Technical writing, computer and communications skills required.
  • ProjectWise, Bluebeam and MS Project knowledge and understanding is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Denver Metro-area development requirements is also a plus.

Education and Experience

  • B.S. or M.S. in Engineering.
  • 0 to 3 years experience

Professional Registrations

E.I. or EIT (or ability to obtain within 12 months) is required.

Expected compensation range is between $75k - $85k annually / hourly depending on skills, experience, and geographical location.
