Duration : 36 Months Position Overview The Line Design Engineer 3 is a senior-level role requiring 7-10 years of relevant experience, along with an accredited bachelor’s degree in engineering or a Professional Engineer (PE) license.
This role involves applying advanced engineering processes, design criteria, and software tools to develop and construct high-voltage transmission lines (HVTL).
Responsibilities include estimating project costs, creating design options, preparing construction specifications, and providing oversight and quality assurance for contractors who deliver design solutions, cost estimates, and construction packages for outsourced line design work. Key Responsibilities
- Safety : Maintain a safe work environment by prioritizing and adhering to established safety protocols.
- HVTL Planning and Design : Apply technical expertise in HVTL planning, design, construction, and maintenance.
- Department Coordination : Collaborate with internal departments to support HVTL design, construction, and maintenance.
- Transmission Line Design : Implement and oversee transmission line design practices, work processes, and industry standards.
- Software Proficiency : Use software tools for HVTL design, particularly PLS-CADD, to create accurate and reliable designs.
- Standards Compliance : Ensure all designs comply with NESC and Southern Company standards; assist in developing design criteria and system standards.
- Field Operations Support : Provide technical support to construction and maintenance teams for regular operations and emergency restoration activities.
- Quality Assurance : Conduct comprehensive reviews of PLS-CADD line models and job construction packages to ensure high quality.
- Project Estimation : Prepare material estimates for transmission projects and manage the transmission of construction packages and specifications.
