Data entry clerk
We are looking for a Data Entry Clerk to typeinformation into our database from paper documents. The idealcandidate will be computer savvy and a fast typist with a keen eyefor detail.
You will report to a data manager or another seniordata team member. Understanding of data confidentiality principlesis compulsory.
The company will rely on you forhaving accurate and updated data that are easily accessible througha digital database.
Responsibilities
- Transfer data from paper formats intocomputer files or database systems using keyboards data recordersor optical scanners
- Type in data provideddirectly from customers
- Create spreadsheetswith large numbers of figures withoutmistakes
- Verify data by comparing it to sourcedocuments
- Update existingdata
- Retrieve data from the database orelectronic files as requested
- Perform regularbackups to ensure data preservation
- Sort andorganize paperwork after entering data to ensure it is notlost
Requirements
- Proven experience as data entryclerk
- Fast typing skills; Knowledge of touchtyping system is strongly preferred
- Excellentknowledge of word processing tools and spreadsheets (MS Office WordExcel etc.)
- Working knowledge of officeequipment and computer hardware and peripheraldevices
- Basic understanding ofdatabases
- Good command of English both oral andwritten and customer service skills
- Greatattention to detail
- High school degree orequivalent
