We are looking for a seasoned veterinarian to join our team as a Regional Medical Director . This is a full-time salaried position, requiring an average of 4-5 days per week and involves regular travel to our practice locations throughout the South.

As this is a traveling role, candidates must reside in North or Central Florida.

The Regional Medical Director will oversee 20-35 hospitals, working closely with our veterinary teams to ensure exceptional patient care and a superior client experience.

This role involves monitoring medical practices, developing staff, and resolving conflicts. The Regional Medical Director will collaborate with leadership, including regional directors, practice managers, and doctors, to support our staff and business operations.

We seek a candidate who is adaptable and comfortable working in various practice environments with diverse teams. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a high level of empathy and be able to tailor their approach and treatment plans to meet the unique needs of each hospital’s team and clientele.

Prior leadership or mentorship experience is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Clinical Practice : Work alongside our DVMs, assist with cases, and provide mentorship. Spend a minimum of 8 days per month in a clinical setting.
  • Case Review : Review cases upon request from Regional Directors (RD), DVMs, or Practice Managers (PM).
  • Hospital Oversight : Monitor hospital operations, appointments, and client satisfaction. Fill in for urgent shifts as needed.
  • Outcome Support : Provide guidance and review negative case outcomes. Monitor the Vetshare App for content and engagement.
  • Performance Analysis : Collaborate with PMs to analyze weekly trends and explain key performance indicators (KPIs) such as revenue, visits, and other metrics.

Work with Regional Directors and Vice President of Medicine to address issues or recommend improvements.

  • Compliance : Ensure accuracy in DEA log books and oversee other compliance requirements. Conduct quarterly inspections of all practices within the designated region.
  • Corporate Duties : Complete corporate responsibilities in 13 days or less per month, including travel, projects, DVM interviews, meetings, holidays, and PTO.

Remaining days are to be used for clinical staffing.

Leadership & Collaboration : Work closely with Regional Directors on operational issues and areas for improvement. Encourage healthy communication among DVMs and guide protocol development.

Host regional DVM events and maintain necessary licenses and permits.

Skills, Knowledge, and Expertise

  • Education : DVM / VMD degree from an AVMA-accredited college (or completion of the ECFVG or PAVE program).
  • Licensure : Active Veterinary License in the state(s) of all hospitals overseen, with an active DEA license or ability to obtain one.
  • Communication : Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Leadership : Strong leadership abilities with the capacity to delegate responsibility effectively.
  • Decision-Making : Ability to analyze complex information and make informed, respectful decisions.
  • Teamwork : Skilled in leading and motivating teams with various personality types.
  • Time Management : Strong organizational skills and time management.
  • Professional Conduct : Ability to maintain professionalism and conduct oneself appropriately as a Veterinarian.
  • Experience : A minimum of 5+ years of clinical practice experience, with preferred leadership experience. Ability to manage extensive travel and time away from home (company-paid).
  • Business Acumen : Possess or have the capacity to develop a strong understanding of the veterinary industry, financial principles, and business operations.
