Job Description :
- Train in specialties including Interventional Cardiology, Interventional Neurology, Interventional Radiology, and Electrophysiology.
- Verify patient identification and informed procedural consent.
- Identify allergies and history of contrast reaction using patient records and patient questioning.
- Verify package integrity and expiration date of sterile supplies, as well as type, concentration, and expiration of medications.
- Prepare equipment for sterilization and monitor / record vital signs.
- Participate in the pre-procedural time-out activity.
- Prepare access sites with sterile drapes and ensure patient comfort.
- Prepare patients with physiological monitoring equipment.
- Select appropriate contrast agents with physician guidance.
- Set up and operate automatic contrast injectors, ensuring cleanliness and functionality.
- Assist in administering injectable medications including analgesics, anticoagulants, and emergency medications.
- Recognize and respond to patient emergencies.
- Monitor and maintain medical equipment, adjusting pressure transducers as needed.
- Assist physicians using sterile and aseptic techniques.
- Handle blood and body fluids appropriately as biohazardous materials.
- Advocate for radiation safety and protection, wearing a personnel radiation dosimeter.
- Take precautions to minimize radiation exposure to patients and staff.
- Document fluoroscopy time and radiation dose, evaluating dose reports.
- Position patients and imaging equipment for optimal projections.
- Select imaging protocols to optimize image quality while minimizing dose.
- Employ image enhancement techniques and assist with ultrasound guidance.
- Monitor and record all procedural data.
- Assist with vascular access and assigned diagnostic / interventional procedures.
- Provide post-procedural care, applying pressure and dressing puncture sites.
- Place vascular closure devices.
- Offer practical instruction for students and colleagues.
