The Licensed Practical Nurse Lead oversee the daily patient throughput by effectively managing staff. They are responsible for daily oversight of clinic flow and performing the duties of a Licensed Practical Nurse in the practice.

They collaborate and support team members to ensure a patient-focused approach to care.

As part of the essential functions of this role, Licensed Practical Nurse Lead

• Provides workflow guidance and acts assists with overseeing the daily operations of Licensed Practical Nurses and Medical Assistants.
• Oversees the daily patient throughput through efficiency in rooming and clinical procedures.
• Assist with completing staffing schedules and maintains daily staffing assignments and assures adequate staffing coverage.
• Ensures rooms are stocked appropriately and are prepared between patient visits.
• Functions as a Licensed Practical Nurse in direct patient care.
• Performs diagnostic tests deemed appropriate by provider including EKGs, nebulizer treatments, and other clinical procedure assistance as needed.
• Obtains, orders, and processes appropriate laboratory specimens as ordered by the medical provider(s).
• Administers immunizations and medications as ordered by provider including all written or standing orders.
• Assists providers and registered nurses with all procedures (pap smears, anoscopy, ear lavage etc.) and the processing of all related specimens as needed.
• Supports and completes medication refills and results, patient documents, paperwork and prior authorizations as needed.
• Supports Nurse Manager with oversight of nurse boxes in EHR.
• Collaborates and supports the team members to ensure a patient-focused approach to care.
• Assists with maintaining safety standards and infection control policies.

Qualified Candidate will have current LPN license and current BLS certification with a minimum of one (1) year of experience working in a medical practice setting, preferably in an HIV / AIDS or other infectious disease practice.

Prior phlebotomy experience required. Candidate must be able to communicate clearly and professionally in writing and verbally.

Candidate must demonstrate familiarity with computers and MS Office software (Outlook, Word) and electronic charting / medical records systems (Medent preferred).

Candidate must demonstrate personal responsibility and integrity and ability to handle Protected Health Information (PHI) in a manner consistent with HIPAA.

Sensitivity to and experience with cultural diversity, Harm Reduction, LGBTQ population, Substance Use population and people living with HIV / AIDS is essential.
