Managing Consultant, Human Rights & Supply Chain (Senior Level)

ERM is seeking an experienced Managing Consultant, Human Rights & Supply Chain to join an international team of dynamic and energetic human rights, social performance, and stakeholder engagement consultants dedicated to delivering high-quality services to clients in a variety of industries, sectors and geographies.

We are looking for individuals who can work in a hybrid setting, both remotely and in connection with one of our North America offices, in the Walnut Creek, California, Houston, Texas or Washington D.

C. area, who will be responsible for leading projects with clients and contributing to new business development.

RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Lead and support human rights, social performance, and sustainable supply chain projects for corporate clients in a variety of industries, sectors and geographies.
  • Serve as a strategic advisor to clients, and stay abreast of industry leading practices and opportunities to drive program innovation, including via the use of existing and prospective internal and external tools and platforms.
  • Develop, review and deliver key project outputs for clients e.g. information requests, gap analyses, company benchmarking, document reviews, risk and impact assessments, project reports, public disclosures, etc.
  • Support other teams on related areas, including but not limited to asset due diligence pre-acquisition, annual sustainability reporting, or corporate materiality assessments and strategy.
  • Work with internal teams across different business units to support internal and external marketing efforts and new business development, and development of new business proposals and contracts.
  • Lead project planning and implementation, including facilitation and / or moderation of in-person and virtual client, new business, and public-facing events.
  • Lead day-to-day management, staffing, and budgeting of projects, which may vary from on-the-ground assessments with site-level teams to virtual engagement with senior leadership.

REQUIREMENTS :

  • Bachelors degree in international relations, business, sustainability or a related field. Or the equivalency of 8+ years related experience in lieu of education.
  • 4+ years of relevant work experience in business and human rights, supply chain due diligence, corporate sustainability, or similar.
  • Knowledge of key human rights frameworks, including the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights or the OECD Due Diligence Guidance on Responsible Business Conduct.
  • Experience in developing and enhancing social management system documents, such as policies, standards, procedures, or guidance.
  • Experience in conducting social assessments, such as risk or impact assessments in line with international leading practice.
  • Ability to present information to clients, stakeholders and colleagues in a concise and persuasive manner, and comfortable facilitating internal and external meetings.
  • Excellent writing and presentation skills, with strong attention to detail.
  • Experience managing projects and people, including in an international / cross-cultural setting.
  • Strong ability to organize, prioritize and complete deadline-driven tasks, as well as flexible and adaptable to changing priorities and deadlines.
  • Ability to multi-task, maintain flexibility, travel, and work independently with minimal supervision.

PREFERRED BUT NOT REQUIRED :

  • Postgraduate degree in international relations, business, sustainability or a related field.
  • Experience in the mining or critical minerals industry, including sector frameworks such as IRMA, ICMM, or the RGMPs.
  • Working proficiency in a third language of French, Spanish or Portuguese.
  • Knowledge of key international financing and investor frameworks, such as the IFC Performance Standards or the Equator Principles 4.
  • Knowledge of modern slavery legislation and regulatory and reporting requirements.
  • Knowledge of existing and emerging sustainability frameworks, such as GRI, SASB, UNGC, IFRS, CSRD, or CSDDD.
  • Experience in sustainable supply chain management beyond Tier 1, such as screening or engagement of suppliers.
  • Experience in community / site-level stakeholder engagement, such as surveys, interviews or focus groups.
  • Ability to develop and write training materials for different audiences within organizations.

For the Managing Consultant, Human Rights & Supply Chain (Senior Level) position, we anticipate the annual base pay of $88,000 - $109,761 (USD).

An employee's pay position within this range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, and business or organizational needs.

We also may have instances where compensation may be outside of the range, based on the factors noted above. This job is also eligible for an annual discretionary based performance bonus.
