Requirements :
- Bachelor’s degree in special education is required, a Master’s degree is preferred.
- A valid Oregon teacher license with necessary endorsements is required.
- A minimum of 2 years of successful teaching experience with special needs students including those with Autism Spectrum Disorder is required.
- A Valid Oregon Driver’s License is required.
- Must possess strong communication and organizational skills.
- Must demonstrate initiative and the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Must have the ability to stand or sit for extended periods of time; see and read a computer screen and printed material with or without vision aids;
- hear and understand speech at normal levels and on the telephone; speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly in person and on the telephone;
and the ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions; May include frequent walking, standing, stooping, lifting up to approximately 25 pounds and occasional lifting of equipment and / or materials weighing up to approximately 40 pounds may be required.

- Contract through the 2024 / 2025 school year 37.5 to 40 hours per week
- Contract follows the academic district calendar
As a Special Education Teacher, you will :
- Screens and assesses students for eligibility, services and placement in special education programs.
- Designs and prepares individual behavioral support plans. With the IEP team, writes IEPs for specific students.
- Designs and implements developmentally appropriate instructional activities and lessons which reflect state standards, district curricula, lesson objectives and student academic achievement goals.
- Monitors the effectiveness of instructional activities and lessons and modifies the pace and content of instruction as needed.
- Provides instructional activities and lessons to a wide variety of elementary students with Autism Spectrum Disorder / Social Communication.
- Provides guidance techniques and resources other teachers can use in regular classroom settings.
- Administers classroom, and district / state assessments.
- Maintains a safe and productive classroom environment.
- Creates, maintains and consistently updates records for special needs students as specified and required by federal and state laws, regulations and administrative rules.
- Schedules and participates in regular team meetings, eligibility meetings, and IEP / MDT meetings.
- Communicates regularly with students and parents / guardians about academic performance.
Salary :
- $50 / hr. to $55 / hr.
- Based on 37.5 hours : $1,875.00 to $2,062.50 paid WEEKLY
- For the 24 / 25 school year : $67,500 to $74,250
