About the Role

The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for, but not limited to, applying standard engineering principles and analytical techniques to the design and development of the manufacturing processes to ensure continuous improvement efforts and cost reduction activities exceeding the expectations of Magna New Mobility, the customer, and Magna International Inc.

Also responsible for overseeing all activities related to supporting technical and manufacturing solutions; including engineering and design to achieve goals and objectives relating to research and development, organizational projects and services for continuous improvement and risk reduction.

Your Responsibilities

  • Ensure that all engineering departmental objectives and activities participated in are aligned to the Magna Employee Charter and Magna Corporate Constitution.
  • Responsible for coordination of major engineering projects as assigned and for the on-time and in budget completion of all deliverables for these projects.
  • Responsible for engineering solutions to the manufacturing process, synchronous manufacturing, continuous improvement techniques.
  • Responsible to ensure that the performance measurables related to the engineering departments are on track with the departmental Key Operating Indicators (KOI'S)
  • Responsible to develop processes, develop JES instructions and select tooling / equipment to meet process capability, capacity, cost effectiveness, maintainability and safety ergonomics.
  • Responsible for PFMEA development, process changes, and PFMEA updates.

Who we are looking for

A university degree in engineering, technologist diploma in mechanical engineering or industrial engineering, or five to seven years engineering related experience in an automotive JIT, Tier 1 manufacturing environment, or equivalent combination of both.

Working knowledge of continuous improvement processes / lean manufacturing concepts, methods and principles.

Good understanding of time and motion studies is required, along with experience in understanding of capital and expense budgets;

understanding of operational planning with strong project management skills to manage / co-ordinate extensive internal and external project resources.

Good knowledge of Health & Safety Legislation and proficiency with Microsoft and other manufacturing related software.

Working knowledge of SPC and AutoCAD
