Travel PossibleThe Aircraft Mechanic II - Avionics will primarily perform all scheduled and unscheduled aircraft andequipment maintenance, both on and off equipment, on assigned aircraft and equipment in accordance withthe Performance Work Statement (PWS), M1 policy, DAFI 21-101(and supplements), as well as industrystandards.
Responsibilities may include : * Maintains repairs and modifies aircraft structures and structural components of moderatedifficulty* Maintains and repairs aircraft components including but not limited to flight controls, engines,hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems, and mechanical components* Applies technical knowledge of airframe and power plant systems in determining equipmentmalfunctions* Applies required expertise in restoring equipment condition and or operation, and appliescomprehensive technical expertise to solve moderate to complex problems by interpretingtechnical documentation such as;
blueprints or manufactures' manuals.* Performs all scheduled and unscheduled avionic aircraft and equipment maintenance, both on andoff equipment, on assigned aircraft and equipment IAW the PWS, Company Policy, AFI 21-101, andindustry standards.
- Will perform aircraft and equipment maintenance on assigned MDS aircraft in a highly "cross-utilization / trained" environment.
- Will be required to perform at a high level of competency in one or more of the following areas : repair and reclamation, egress, electro / environmental, wheel & tire, APG, sheet metal, compositerepair, propulsion, fuels, AGE, armament, munitions, non-destructive inspection (NDI), andpneudraulics.
- Maintains aircraft and support equipment forms records IAW AF procedures utilizing AFInformation Systems and forms as required.
- Performs transient aircraft support. CDDAR team member. Phase team member. Aircraft servicingand ground handling. T2 Modification and Test Program Support.
- Maintains qualifications contained on the Special Certification Roster (SCR) as directed.* Shall assist other personnel and work centers as directed and perform other duties as assigned.
- Position requires complying with unique commuting / travel requirementsQualifications and Experience : * Minimum of five years performing aircraft avionics maintenance functions in a militaryenvironment and attainment of an Air Force 5 level (or equivalent) is required.
Three years on F-16 and / or HH-60 highly desired.* Must be reliable, self-motivated, and able to deal with stressful situations and timelines whilemaintaining a professional and non-confrontational attitude.
- Must have a thorough knowledge of aircraft mechanical component troubleshooting, repairprocedures and replacement of parts.
- Requires broad knowledge of aircraft sheet metal / structural modifications and repair.* Must have basic knowledge of electrical theory.
- Must have thorough knowledge of aircraft unique tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches,dial indicators, micrometers, sheet metal brakes and sheers.
- This job requires working knowledge of technical publications.* The incumbent receives technical guidance, as required, from supervisor or higher-leveltechnician(s).
- Will occasionally be required to lead teams through more complex aircraft relevant tasks, and maybe required to make entries in aircraft logs and records.
- Must be able to prioritize workload to maintain schedules on assigned projects.* Working knowledge of principles applying to aircraft systems, concepts and applications ofmaintenance directives, data reporting, and using technical data is mandatory.
- Knowledge of Air Force supply and efficiency reporting procedures is mandatory.* Knowledge of the proper handling, use, and disposal of hazardous waste and materials ismandatory.
- Must be able to obtain / maintain the security clearance level as mandated by the governmentcustomer.* Maintains qualifications contained on the Special Certification Roster (SCR) as directed.
- Must possess a current valid U.S. Driver's License.* Must speak, read, write, and understand English.* High school diploma or GED is required.
Working Conditions : * Position requires complying with unique commuting / travel requirements.* Will work in aircraft hangars and outside on aircraft ramps within close proximity of runningequipment and aircraft.
- Must be able to work days, nights, weekends, or overtime shifts as required.* May work outdoors, sometimes in hot or cold weather.
- May be exposed to contaminants.* May be exposed to hazardous conditions, such as when standing on scaffolding or climbing ladders* Will be exposed to loud and persistent noise* Will be required to utilize Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as : safety toe footwear,safety glasses, etc.
