Pay scale : 2000$ Per week

Job Summary : The Surgical Technologist (Surgical Tech) in the Labor & Delivery department provides essential support during labor and delivery procedures.

This role involves preparing the operating room, assisting the surgical team, and ensuring a sterile environment for a variety of obstetric procedures.

Key Responsibilities :

• Pre-Operative Duties :
• Prepare and maintain sterile field for deliveries and surgical procedures.
• Assemble and arrange surgical instruments, sutures, and supplies.
• Verify and prepare necessary equipment and ensure its functionality.
• Assisting During Procedures :
• Assist surgeons and obstetricians by passing instruments and supplies during procedures.
• Anticipate the needs of the surgical team and respond promptly.
• Monitor and maintain the sterile field throughout the procedure.
• Post-Operative Duties :
• Assist with the cleanup and disinfection of the operating room.
• Dispose of used instruments and materials following infection control protocols.
• Document surgical counts, specimen handling, and other relevant data.
• Patient Care :
• Prepare patients for surgery, including positioning and draping.
• Communicate effectively with patients and their families, addressing concerns and providing updates as necessary.
• Collaboration and Communication :
• Work closely with obstetricians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure efficient and effective patient care.
• Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to continuous improvement efforts.
• Emergency Response :
• Respond to emergencies promptly, providing assistance as needed during high-risk deliveries and surgical interventions.

Qualifications :

• Education : Completion of a Surgical Technologist program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or an equivalent organization.
• Certification : Certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) is preferred.
• Experience : Previous experience in a Labor & Delivery or obstetric surgical setting is highly desirable.
• Skills : Proficiency in surgical instruments, sterilization techniques, and maintaining sterile fields. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential.

Physical Requirements :

• Ability to stand for extended periods and perform tasks requiring manual dexterity.
• Capability to lift and move patients and equipment as needed.
• Stamina to work effectively during night shifts and handle high-stress situations.
