Research Technician 2 to assist and support scientific investigation to study human cancer as directed in the Comprehensive Cancer Center / Pathology (Cell Reprogramming Laboratory, PI : Dr. Xuefeng Liu)
Duties Include :
Independently conducts assigned experiments
Performs a variety of molecular, cellular, and biological research techniques and procedures includingPCR reactions, gel electrophoresis, assays, cell cultures and Northern and Western analysis;
sorts and processes tissue and blood samples
Tests and evaluates current procedures
Performs routine procedures on lab animals
Records, consolidates and assists with analysis of research results
Assists in evaluating validity of data obtained from experimental procedures
Summarizes data for inclusion in grant proposals and manuscripts
Prepares research progress reports
Assists principal investigator with the preparation ofpublications, manuscripts, articles, posters, and abstracts; conducts library research on requested topics through researching current literature
Oversees and maintains accurate records of laboratory activities
Assists with training of junior research staff, and undergraduate and graduate students in research methods and equipment operation
Sets up and operates laboratory equipment
Monitors research supply, including specimens, inventory and initiates procurement requestsas needed.
Required Qualifications :
Bachelor's degree in a biological / health science or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
Requires successful completion of a background check.
Qualified candidates may be requested to complete a pre-employment physical including a drug screen.
