Zero Waste Supervisor - Shoreline Amphitheatre (Seasonal 2024)

THE JOB

US Concerts is seeking a Zero Waste Supervisor to help us take our sustainability programs to the next level. This role is the backbone and driving force behind Live Nation’s resource recovery and circularity program and is responsible for ensuring efficient waste sorting protocols, clean and organized workspaces, and thorough support of sustainability department growth.

This position will partner with the Venue Sustainability Manager and be part of the venue operations team. Coming into 2024, Shoreline Amphitheatre is setting new objectives and processes for its zero-waste program, which will be spearheaded by the Venue Sustainability Manager and Zero Waste Supervisor.

Zero Waste Supervisors will be tasked with day-to-day program execution as they work to develop a comprehensive, industry-leading zero waste program.

Zero Waste Supervisors will assist the Venue Sustainability Manager in making this program increasingly adaptable to be able to deliver on target goals.

This is a seasonal, part-time position for show days. Hours per week will vary depending on show schedule and business needs at the time.

WHAT THIS ROLE WILL DO

Participate in Zero Waste Supervisor on-boarding training.

Assist with Zero Waste Coordinator training and oversight.

Be onsite during pre-season venue set up, at request of the Venue Sustainability Manager, to ensure zero waste operational procedures are in place.

Assist in the mid- and post-show waste sorting process of all recycling, composting, donations, and landfill materials.

Be available to work show days and non-show days to ensure all waste is sorted and diverted.

Assist with overseeing the material sorting process of all recycling, composting, reuse, and donations materials to increase resource recovery and diversion from landfill.

Assist with Front of House Zero Waste initiatives as outlined by the Venue Sustainability Manager.

Relay boots on the ground observations to guide areas of improvement and overall program development.

Contribute ideas to improve material circularity based on most commonly seen items in the waste stream.

Assist the Venue Sustainability Manager with educational support to all crew members and fans.

Maintain a clean sorting area and support the post-show pick after each event, which will occasionally result in scheduled shifts occurring on days after a show.

Be able to step in and oversee sustainability processes in the event the Venue Sustainability Manager is sick or cannot attend a scheduled show.

Support compliance with local environmental policies and mandates.

Other tasks as assigned by the Venue Sustainability Manager on an as-need basis.

WHAT THIS PERSON WILL BRING

Show days require about 90% of the time spent walking, bending, reaching, stooping, lifting and carrying 50+ lbs. with about 75% of that time spent sorting materials

Not afraid to get dirty or be around unpleasant odors

Ability to work outside in variable weather

HOURLY PAY RANGE : $25.00
