The Harley-Davidson Motor Company Product Development Center (PDC) located in Wauwatosa, WI is home to the mantra You dream it.
We build it. Join our team as a Supplier Process Quality Lead - Hybrid.
This professional will collaboratively identify and mitigate supplied-part quality risk throughout the NPD process to ensure robust supplier production processes predominantly pertaining to CASTINGS AND FORGINGS.
Job Responsibilities
- Support activities to identify, evaluate, and onboard new suppliers.
- Assess and identify supplier quality and capability gaps to program needs and Sourcing’s strategic goals.
- Drive focus of new part design toward sustainably maximizing manufacturability and optimizing supplier processes.
- Own, lead, engage in, execute, and / or deliver NPD processes, APQP elements, project management, rapid problem solving, tooling design reviews, evaluation, and validation, part design reviews, evaluation, and validation, drawing evaluation, DFQ, DFMA, DFMEAs, PFMEAs, MSAs, capability studies, product and process auditing, CA / PA, risk mitigation strategies and plans, control plans, PPAPs, and CARs.
- Support on-site supplier risk mitigation activities and H-D product builds.
- Provide feedback regarding supplier performance, internal process adherence, milestone risk, and forward-looking lessons learned.
- Champion and live out H-D#1 Principles, especially Agility, Communication, Courage, Impact, Judgement, and Speed while requiring guidance in only the most complex situations.
- Mentor, train, coach, and / or guide suppliers, H-D staff, and third-party personnel in manufacturing techniques, Quality principles and tools, data capturing and analysis, and complex problem-solving.
Education Requirements
High School Diploma or Equivalent Required
Education Specifications
- Metallurgical Engineering Bachelor of Science degree preferred.
- Desired disciplines include materials science focused on metals and alloys, quality, industrial engineering, manufacturing engineering, or mechanical engineering.
Experience Requirements
Required
- A minimum of 8 years of related experience comprised of a mix of new product development, manufacturing, and supplier quality improvement predominantly pertaining to CASTINGS AND FORGINGS .
- A minimum of 4 years of hands-on castings and forgings process experience, such as tooling design / functionality, tooling creation, process development, and process controls.
- Direct involvement in the tooling design review process to ensure critical features are addressed.
- Strong knowledge of casting methods and materials.
- Substantial knowledge of casting and forging processes, critical process parameters, materials testing principles and their application.
- Direct involvement with specifying, implementing, and sustaining secondary finishing processes (welding, assembly, decorating, etc.).
- Strong relationship building with representatives throughout a manufacturing organization to ensure seamless communication (operators, technicians, inspectors, engineers, mid-and upper-level management).
- Demonstrated ability to effectively interpret process risks and gaps with extended supply chain and sub-tier suppliers and champion best practices for improvement.
- Proven track record of leadership in managing integrated projects and solving complex problems.
- Demonstrated ability to lead a group and / or team and provide guidance to other employees.
- Travel required up to 50%.

The pay range shown represents the national average pay range for this role. Your pay may be more or less than the stated range and is dependent on your geographic location and level of experience.
