Job Summary
Texas Research Institute (TRI) Austin is a small business with a 35-year history in applied materials science research and development for government and private industry.
The Non-Destructive Evaluation (NDE) division designs instrumentation, software analysis toolsets, and inspection techniques in support of material-based research.
Our firm seeks an Electrical Engineer to support these development efforts in a multi-disciplinary and intellectually stimulating environment.
Primary Responsibilities and Job Functions
- Design low-voltage DC and AC power distribution systems
- Prototype and design customized sensors or implement COTS products
- Design and implement multi-axis motion control systems
- Apply digital signal processing techniques to a wide variety of sensor data
- Develop systems based on embedded architectures employing bare-metal programming
- Troubleshoot and repair obsolete and legacy electronics
- Document progress and activities and summarize in regular reports
- Write and review technical proposals

Requirements
Valuable Skills
- Experience with data analysis in LabVIEW, MATLAB, and Python
- Familiarity with PCB and circuit design and simulation software such as EAGLE or OrCAD
- Previous experience with NDE inspection methods such as eddy current, ultrasound, and electromagnetic milli / micrometer wave
- Familiarity with analog, RF, or microwave frequency circuit design
- Possess a high level of proficiency in technical writing
- Have an independent, self-starter mindset and be driven to learn and tackle challenges outside of your comfort zone
The ability to obtain a US DoD security clearance is mandatory.
B.S. or M.S. degree in electrical engineering or related field is preferred.
