Overview
SNAP-ON BUSINESS SOLUTIONS (a group within the RS&I Division of Snap-on Incorporated)
Location : Richfield, OH (between Independence and Fairlawn, OH)
Work Schedule : Monday thru Friday - up to 30 hours per week (flexible with student's school schedule).
Level : Seeking students between Sophmore and Senior level.
The Internship for Snap-on IS / IT is to assist our IS Apps Support / Web Systems administrative support team with ongoing IS / IT related projects.
This Internship will provide students with a technological environment that will provide the opportunity to gain skills and knowledge pertaining to their related career as well as obtaining hands-on experience.
The knowledge gained during the internship will provide the intern with the skill set needed to seamlessly move into a professional career in the IT industry.
Assists with new hardware, software, and web site installations, upgrades, and trouble-shooting. Provides daily quality assurance and diagnostic support for the web-application infrastructure for internal and commercial sites.
Responsibilities
- Build and support hardware and software on Windows or Unix servers to support deployment, developed web applications.
- Provide trouble-shooting and corrective active support web related applications.
- Develop scripts to automate, monitor, and manage the web environment.
- Provide support on gathering and reporting, on web infrastructure.
- Provide database administration support for database creation.
- Adhere to security measures to insure that the information assets of the Company and the clients are protected at all times.
- Knowledge of web architectures, networking, application design concepts, languages and tools.
- Detailed knowledge of Microsoft or Unix operating systems.
- Knowledge and or some experience with tools that provide services such as application testing, web application servers, and content management.
- Knowledge and or some experience trouble-shooting, backing up and restoring SQL / Server, Oracle and open source databases.
- Knowledge with web server software and database connectivity to Oracle or SQL Server databases.
- Knowledge or experience of programming / scripting.
Qualifications
- Must be enrolled at a college / university with a major in Information Technology / Computer Science and maintain a 2.5 / 4.0 average.
- Working knowledge of Windows Operating Systems (Windows 10 and 11)
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365
- Basic understanding of a Microsoft Windows environment is helpful.
- Good understanding of computer hardware.
- Basic understanding of how computer networks work.
- Ability to work alone and in a team environment.
- Must be detail oriented.
- Ability to seek out solutions independently.
- Must be a licensed driver and provide their own transportation.
