Roles & Responsibilities :
- Provide medical care to patients following licensure and community standards.
- Adhere to the Standardized Procedures Agreement, ensuring the necessary standard of care is met.
- Follow medical protocols, policies, and procedures as per AAHC standards.
- Perform diagnostic and therapeutic tasks under the supervision of a collaborating physician.
- Conduct comprehensive medical histories and physical examinations.
- Perform and assist with routine laboratory and screening techniques, including :
- Venous blood drawing
- Bladder catheterization
- Taking cultures (throat, urethral, skin abscesses, etc.)
- Pelvic examinations and pap smears
- Carry out routine therapeutic procedures such as :
- Debridement, suturing / stapling, and care of superficial wounds
- Removal of foreign bodies from the skin
- Removal of sutures or staples
- Taping and / or splinting of sprains and fractures
- Incision and drainage of superficial skin infections
- Ingrown toenail removal
- Ear wick application
- Joint injections and aspirations
- Participate in monthly Medical and Quality Improvement meetings and support the organization's Quality Improvement Plan.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and funding requirements, including OSHA, CLIA, Title 22, etc.
- Be flexible with scheduling based on needs.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Experience Required :
- Education and Experience :
- Minimum of two years in community-based medical practice and health care delivery.
- Completion of a Nurse Practitioner Program.
- Current California Board of Registered Nursing and national Nurse Practitioner certification.
- Active licensure as a Registered Nurse in California with a furnishing number and current DEA registration.
- CPR & ACLS certification (ACLS may be obtained within the first four weeks of employment).
- Sensitivity to Native American culture and values.
- Knowledge of modern medicine principles related to public health services and public health organizations.
- Understanding of state and federal public health laws.
- Familiarity with managed care systems.
