Earn a competitive wage, have affordable and comprehensive insurance benefits, a retirement plan, paid time off, and more!\n\nThis position will assess, develop, implement, monitor, and manage the Infection Prevention Control Program (IPCP) to care for the infection prevention needs of the Minnesota Veterans Home-Preston.\n\nResponsibilities include but are not limited to : \n
  • Collaborates with nursing leadership to plan, develop and implement an IPCP to provide a safe, sanitary and comfortable environment and help prevent the development and transmission of communicable diseases and infections.\n
  • Defines transmission-based precautions within the facility, such as contact, droplet, or airborne precautions, and identifies how and when they should be utilized.\n
  • Participates on the quality assessment and performance improvement (QAPI) committee and ensures infection prevention protocols are addressed in the quality assurance program, facility assessment and include systems for preventing, identifying, reporting, investigating and controlling infections and communicable diseases.\n
  • Ensures procedures for reporting communicable disease or infections are in compliance with state and federal requirements.\n
  • Develops and maintains the Antibiotic Stewardship Program related to antibiotic use and resistance data.\n
  • Develops a culture of engagement with staff that provides opportunities for staff to discuss infection prevention needs and ask questions.\n\nThis position is designated as part-time and primarily day shift. The work schedule will include at least 48 hours per 2-week pay period and may include additional work hours, based on business needs. The position is initially eligible for a partial employer contribution towards health and dental insurance benefits.\n\nMinimum Qualifications\n\nPlease ensure that your resume / application clearly describes your experience in the areas listed below and indicates the beginning and ending month and year for each job held.\n
  • Licensed in Minnesota as a Registered Nurse with no restrictions and in good standing\n
  • Two years of experience as a Registered Nurse in a skilled nursing facility\n
  • Advanced knowledge of skilled nursing sufficient to educate, influence, and provide direction to staff, residents and others on infection prevention and control\n
  • Demonstrated knowledge of infection prevention and control sufficient to prevent transmission of epidemiologically important pathogens, prevent and control outbreaks, report communicable diseases, and follow-up on blood borne pathogen exposures\n
  • Organization and recordkeeping skills sufficient to accurately report data and status information in various state and federal reporting systems\n
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills sufficient to communicate and work effectively with staff, residents and others\n
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification through the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross\n\nPreferred Qualifications\n
  • Registered Nurse experience specialized in developing and implementing infection prevention and control strategies\n
  • Three or more years of experience as a Registered Nurse in a skilled nursing facility\n
  • Bachelor's or advanced degree in Nursing or related degree program\n
  • Experience leading other nursing staff\n\nAdditional Requirements\n
  • A Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS) background check may be conducted on the top finalist(s) for the position. When conducted, a finalist must pass the DHS background check.\n
