This non-licensed clinical staff position has an impact on reducing patient harm by preparing and maintaining sterile fields and equipment and on physician satisfaction and the overall effectiveness of the surgical services team by anticipating their needs.

As part of the Patient Care Services Surgical Services team and under the direction of a Registered Nurse and within AORN standards and guidelines, the Surgical Technologist :
Job Description :
Retrieves and review case cart to ensure all physician requested supplies, instruments and equipment are available and sterile for use in case.
Opens sterile supplies according to aseptic technique in preparation for the surgical procedure.
Scrubs for cases according to established sterile procedures. Changes into operative clothing; wears sterile gown and gloves, and assists surgeons with same.
Prepares and maintains a surgical field.
Assembles equipment and instrumentation based on the surgical procedure.
Assists in surgical procedure, anticipating, planning for and responding to the needs of the patient, surgeon and other team members.
Full time, part time, and per diem positions available
Education / Experience :
Required : Graduate of an accredited or US Armed Forces Surgical Technologists school and / or program or employed as a Surgical Technologist at a surgical facility on or before July 1, 2013.
Preferred : At least one year operating room scrub experience
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS, CERTIFICATIONS :
Required : Must obtain Surgical Technician Certification within 12 months of graduation date.
Preferred : Current Surgical Technician Certification upon hire
Note : Surgical Technologists that were employed as Surgical Technologists in a surgical facility prior to July 1, 2013 are exempted from the certification requirement, as allowed by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting.
