About Us : Cyvl is a Boston-based tech startup revolutionizing how civil engineering firms and governments map and manage transportation infrastructure. Our enterprise-grade hardware and software solutions leverage 3D mapping sensors to capture LiDAR, imagery, and GPS data—retrofitted to our customers' vehicles. This data is processed through our AI-powered cloud pipelines to generate actionable geospatial insights that save cities and engineering firms time, money, and resources.

About the Role : As an engineer at Cyvl you will solve the hardest problems in the software and GIS space. You will interface with local governments to solve their unique problems, writing code that interfaces with the physical world.

Responsibilities :

  • Collaborate with design and product teams to bring smooth, accessible, and responsive interfaces to life.
  • Build, document, and maintain scalable APIs using Python and Supabase.
  • Own full-stack features from conception to deployment—contributing across the stack as needed.
  • Work with Postgres to design, query, and optimize data models and workflows.
  • Contribute to architectural decisions and code reviews across the engineering organization.
  • Mentor junior engineers and elevate the overall engineering bar.
  • Partner with DevOps to ensure robust, testable, and observable systems.

Required Skills :

  • Computer Science / STEM Degree
  • Can do attitude

    • Nice to Have :

  • Familiarity with geospatial data and tools (Mapbox, Leaflet, Turf.js).
  • Background in data visualization and performance profiling.
  • Prior work in early-stage startups or fast-scaling environments.
  • Experience writing tests with tools like Jest, React Testing Library, or Cypress.
  • Familiarity with 3D visualization libraries (e.g., Deck.gl, Three.js).
  • Proficiency in React and front-end frameworks (Next.js, Vite, etc.) with a focus on clean, reusable components.
  • Expertise in Python and modern Python package management tools like UV and Poetry
  • Strong command of JavaScript / TypeScript and modern front-end development practices (hooks, context, etc.).
  • Experience designing and consuming RESTful APIs and backend services.
  • Comfort working with relational databases, particularly Postgres.
  • Experience deploying and managing serverless environments and platforms like Supabase or Firebase.
  • Strong Git workflow knowledge and experience with CI / CD pipelines.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced, collaborative team environment.
  • Experience with cloud infrastructure (e.g., AWS, GCP, etc.).
