About The Position
Weekly Pay Range - $639 To $709 Job Title : Health Information Technician Job Specialty : Staff Augmentation Job Duration : 52 weeks Shift : Day, 7 : 30 AM - 3 : 30 PM Guaranteed Hours : Not specified Experience : Not specified License : Not specified Certifications : Not specified Must-Have : Ability to manage records, familiarity with medical terminology, proficiency in typing Job Description : Compile health information by reviewing, cataloging, and checking medical reports for completeness.
- Organize medical reports for filing and review charts to ensure all reports and signatures are present.- Type health information forms, prepare charts for new admissions, fill out forms, and prepare requests for specific reports or certificates.
- Compile and type statistical reports such as daily and monthly census, Medicaid days, admissions, discharges, or length of stay.
- File reports into health information records and record information in logs.- Manage filing system by filing and retrieving health information records.
- Provide information from health information records after determining the appropriateness of the request.- Coordinate with other departments concerning health information records procedures.
Major Worker Characteristics : Knowledge of health information technology and regulations governing medical record-keeping.
- Understanding requirements governing the confidentiality of patient information.- Proficiency in medical terminology.- Skill in using a word processor and calculator.
- Ability to solve problems within a familiar context, write routine business letters, and proofread medical reports.- Recognize errors or missing information in medical records.
- Gather, collate, and classify information about data, people, or things. Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment : Experience or coursework in records management.
- Experience or coursework in medical terminology.- Experience or coursework in typing.
