Job Description

The Quality Assurance Technician position is responsible for executing all quality procedures, inspections, and required laboratory test to ensure products meet or exceed the written and unwritten inbound and outbound specifications.

Duties and responsibilities

Essential Job Functions :

  • Responsible for accurately reporting data on daily HACCP / Quality documents in Redzone and on customer-facing documents.
  • Responsible for verifying Critical Control Points (CCP) via SOP(s) through microbiological analysis, titration, etc. and use data along with knowledge and experience to make decisions to determine proper actions.
  • Sample collection / inspection / preparation, analytical testing, interpretation, recording and reporting of analytical results in the appropriate quality system.
  • Performs calibrations, or verifications to ensure accuracy of equipment, and assists with basic troubleshooting.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as percentages, ratios, proportions and dilutions to practical situations.
  • Knowledge of Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP), Safe Quality Foods (SQF) and Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP).
  • Instrumentation knowledge : Calculator, Thermometers, Basic Titration.
  • Conducting food safety and quality checks at required frequencies.
  • Assist in inventory management of chemicals, personal protective equipment and other quality utensils / tools.
  • Assists Management in ensuring adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices by monitoring and training Production personnel on GMP and GHP to ensure food safety, quality, regulatory compliance, and adherence to Safe Quality Food policies.
  • Effective and efficient communication skills.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and make appropriate decisions with information provided.

Requirements :

  • 1 to 3 years in the food manufacturing industry
  • Experience with food safety and defense programs
  • Must have good attention to detail
  • Must have the ability to adjust to changing work demands and priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Must be able to read, write, speak English
  • Good communication skills, with the ability to communicate verbally and in writing
  • Demonstrate the ability to write reports, as well as to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers.
  • Demonstrate the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide into all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Demonstrate the ability to define problems, collect data and establish facts.
  • Demonstrate the ability to interpret basic technical instructions.
  • Ability to use a computer, lab equipment, food preparation equipment and office equipment.
  • Bilingual in Spanish a plus

Physical requirements

  • Capable of working in a cold (approx. 34-38 ), sometimes damp and noisy environment
  • Ability to lift / push / pull up to 50 lbs.
  • Be able to stand, walk, bend, twist, stoop for at least 8-10 hours a day
  • Frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate and operating in a refrigerated environment is common.
  • Work hours are full-time, and overtime as needed .
  • Ability to work flexible schedules including nights and weekends
