TITLE : Preschool Teacher
QUALIFICATIONS :
- 12 semester hours of coursework in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a Child Related Field AND hours of experience in the field of Early Childhood.
- ZA or ZS Endorsement, BA in Early Childhood Education or a related field is preferred
- Experience working in a Preschool setting preferred
- Must meet all state licensing requirements
- Patient and flexible
- Basic computer proficiency
- A working knowledge of child development theory, specifically as it pertains to the planning, preparation and execution of a developmentally appropriate 3 through 6-year-old preschool program.
REPORTS TO : Director of Early Childhood
SUPERVISES : Not applicable
JOB GOAL : To plan, supervise and implement a developmentally appropriate early childhood preschool program.
ASSIGNED RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Interact with the children to support play, exploration, and learning.
- Develop plans to meet the individual needs of the children.
- Plan and implement activities that develop self-esteem and social skills.
- Maintain a pleasant atmosphere for all children by using positive and consistent guidance techniques.
- Present expectations that are appropriate to the childs age and developmental level.
- Evaluate student and class progress on a regular basis.
- Design an appropriate room arrangement to support the goals and developmental level of the children in the classroom.
- Communicate appropriately and professionally with parents and fellow staff.
- Protect the privacy of the families enrolled by observing the rules of confidentiality.
- Attend monthly meetings and training workshops.
- Perform other duties as designed by the Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum & Instruction and Director of Early childhood.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT : 10 months, Tuesdays and Thursdays 8 : 45-12 : 45
