Head of Operations Engineering

Job Description

Our client a leading beverage manufacturer is seeking a Head of Operations Engineering to oversee engineering operations, capital projects, and process improvements. This role is critical in ensuring seamless plant operations, supporting production schedules, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.

The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership, technical expertise, and a proven ability to manage budgets, teams, and large-scale engineering projects within a manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the Engineering Department in planning, development, and execution of operational strategies.

Manage capital expenditure (CapEx) budgets, training budgets, and contractor / vendor partnerships.

Oversee facility projects including renovations, expansions, and major equipment installations.

Direct CMMS systems to ensure accurate tracking of maintenance, breakdowns, and contractor work.

Ensure compliance with FDA, SQF, EH&S, and food safety requirements.

Develop and enforce engineering policies, standards, and best practices.

Collaborate with production and maintenance teams to coordinate shutdowns and minimize downtime.

Drive cost-efficiency and productivity improvements through process engineering and technology adoption.

Recruit, mentor, and lead the engineering team to achieve organizational goals.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Industrial, Chemical, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering (MBA preferred).

10+ years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.

5–7 years managing capital projects, budgets, and cross-functional teams.

Proficiency in Microsoft Project, AutoCAD, ERP / MES / CMMS tools.

Strong knowledge of piping & instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs).

Excellent troubleshooting, communication, and leadership skills.

Preferred Experience :

Food & beverage industry experience.

Knowledge of FDA, PMO design requirements, and GMP standards.

Low-acid aseptic manufacturing / packaging experience.

Requirements
