SUMMARY DESCRIPTION :
The Buyer Government Operations is responsible for purchasing goods and services to support government and commercial operations, in conformance with government and corporate regulations and procedures.
This position requires a results-oriented individual who works independently with minimal supervision. This position is located in our Largo, MD or Chesapeake, VA office location and reports directly to the Controller.
CLASSIFICATION : Exempt (salaried)
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Reviews purchase requisitions for accuracy and completeness.
- Solicits bids, evaluates quotations, and makes supplier selections in accordance with government and corporate policies and procedures.
- Issues purchase orders.
- Maintains purchase order files in accordance with approved Contractor Purchasing System Review (CPSR) requirements.
- Conducts product and supplier research with assistance from technical staff.
- Assists Purchasing Manager with all government procurement reporting requirements.
JOB REQUIREMENTS :
- Minimum 5 years of experience in Purchasing, with 2 years in Government Purchasing.
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational, communication, and documentation skills.
- Familiarity with Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS) as well as contract flow down requirements.
- Experience in the undersea industry desired.
- Ability to meet critical deadlines and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Computer skills with competence in Microsoft Office suite.
- Superior comprehension skills.
- Ability to travel within the United States.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug / alcohol screen and physical, if required.
