Brown and Caldwell (BC) is currently seeking a Project Manager to join our Northwest Infrastructure team. This is a growth-oriented role for a mid-level PM to take on a project leadership role and work directly with our project engineers and Area Practice Leaders within a dynamic team based out of Seattle.
The selected individual will utilize their knowledge of project delivery, their technical expertise in pump stations, pipelines, and conveyance, and their leadership skills to deliver infrastructure projects and task orders to completion.
This role will deliver the outside the fence infrastructure projects that support our wastewater and drinking water practices.
Our ideal Infrastructure Project Manager candidate will exhibit leadership qualities, excellent communication skills, a strong organizational aptitude, problem-solving abilities, and the capacity to motivate and manage diverse teams and develop new and existing clients.
The ideal candidate is ready to take on existing infrastructure projects and learn BC’s delivery metrics, project processes, resources, and techniques to effectively plan, execute, monitor, and deliver quality for our clients and BC.
Primary duties for this position include, but are not limited to the following :
Project delivery leadership : Provide technical leadership to the design team. Clarify questions and identify necessary technical resources to advance the project.
Drive design towards design milestones, meeting BC’s QA / QC standards and design metrics and financial performance and profitability metrics.
Be BC’s forward-facing representation to clients by providing excellent client service with timely and quality communication.
Execution of BC’s project delivery requirements : Scopes of Work - Work with project teams to develop detailed scopes of work with clear assumptions and set realistic expectations to deliver quality work.
Project Schedules - Work with project teams to develop achievable project schedules that plan for uncertainties and risks.
Project Budgets - Work with project teams to develop levels of effort that set the projects up for success and prepare for uncertainties and risks.
Quality Management - Develop a Quality Management Plan and execute the plan with project teams at key milestones.Change Management - Identify changes, document the impacts to the scope, schedule and budget for changes, and get client endorsement and approval for changes.
Risk Management - Identify risks, prepare mitigation strategies, monetize risks, and update the risk profile on the project throughout the lifecycle of a project.
Project team leadership : Set direction clarify key objectives for a project, how decisions will be made, schedules and budgets, and what critical success factors the client is trying to achieve are important components to setting team direction.
Communicate share how communications will be delivered, this includes team standups, technical / design decisions, client changes, etc.
This will help the team understand what communication methods will be used during the assignment.Motivate the Team empower team members by giving authority and responsibility, resolve conflict and provide feedback.
Make sure to pause and celebrate / recognize success.Establish Trust demonstrate integrity, be a competent leader, show consistency, promote loyalty, and model transparency.

Collaborate internally - The project manager shall work closely with client service managers, client service teams, and Area Practice Leads to assess client satisfaction through interactions.
Required Skills and Experience :
- BS degree in Civil, Environmental, or related Engineering field.
- 8-12 years of experience in potable water, sanitary sewer, and storm drainage pipeline rehabilitation and design and with pumping / booster station rehabilitation and design with progressively increasing responsibility.
- Project manager and / or task order lead role delivery experience in 3 or more projects / task orders of $100,000 fee or more.
- Experience writing scopes of work, developing levels of effort, and assembling project schedules in MS Project.
- Ability to identify and mitigate risks on projects.
- Excellent communication skills including (1) the ability to communicate orally and in writing - across functions and teams, up and down the chain of command and (2) conduct effective presentations and written report preparation.
- Ability to proactively deal with conflict.
- Washington PE, or ability to obtain through reciprocity within 6 months.
- Valid driver’s license and good driving record required.
- Proficiency in using standard computer programs (MS Word, MS Teams, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, Outlook) required.
Desired Skills and Experience :
- MS degree in Civil, Environmental, or related Engineering field.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification from the Project Management Institute (PMI) preferred.
- Strong planning experience through design and construction of industrial, municipal and / or federal facilities.
- Previous supervisory experience.
Salary Range : The anticipated starting pay range for this position is based on the employee’s primary work location and may be more or less depending upon skills, experience, and education.
These ranges may be modified in the future.
Location A : $103,000 - $141,000
Location B : $114,000 - $155,000
Location C : $124,000 - $169,000
