About The Position
Job Title : Medical Technologist / Medical Laboratory Scientist - Direct Hire Job Specialty : Laboratory Job Duration : Permanent Shift : Nights, 7 on / 7 off (72 hours / 2 weeks);
Rotating weekends Guaranteed Hours : 36 hours per week Experience : Preferred at least one year of continuous job-related experience License : Registered as a Medical Technologist or Medical Laboratory Scientist, or equivalent Certifications : Current BLS (AHA) certification recommended Must-Have : Completion of a training program in an accredited school of Medical Technology Job Description : Perform and interpret all diagnostic testing in the clinical laboratory, including departments like chemistry, hematology, coagulation, immunology, immunohematology, and basic STAT microbiology.
- Demonstrate in-depth skills and competency in routine microbiology; night shift requires competency in gram stains, culture setup, and point-of-care micro kits.
- Possess working phlebotomy knowledge, including specimen collection, phlebotomy complications, and competent phlebotomy skills for all age groups.
- Ensure proficiency in surveys as assigned with a minimum average score of 80%.- Perform and monitor quality control on all testing;
troubleshoot and document corrective actions on quality control issues.- Conduct preventative maintenance on all equipment, documenting any corrective actions.
- Meet yearly competence through personal study, training videos, in-service, case studies, internet opportunities, and one-on-one training if requested.
- Maintain and document reagent tracking, including receipt dates, lot numbers, and expiration dates.- Consistently utilize two methods of patient identification during processes involving blood products, ensuring accuracy.
- Demonstrate the ability to use sound judgment and work independently, interpreting, adapting, and applying guidelines.- Identify problems and recommend solutions, utilizing performance improvement to maintain trust and customer service.
- Establish and maintain healthy interpersonal relationships with all staff members and maintain confidentiality regarding patient, staff, and business information.
- Rotate weekends, holidays, and hours, recognizing safety hazards and ensuring timely diagnostic testing.- Abide by federal, state, and hospital laws, regulations, and guidelines, maintaining necessary licenses and certifications.
- Fulfill physical demands, including varying physical positions and comfort levels, maintaining mental and physical health, and adhering to safety and protective measures for chemical and biological hazards.
