Mitsubishi Electric Trane HVAC US LLC is looking for a Sr Product Manager - Hydronics.

POSITION SUMMARY :

The Senior Product Manager, Hydronic Systems will oversee the development of HVAC products and solutions for the hydronic market segment.

The manager will develop and execute market segment product development strategies, product introduction and life cycle management plans.

The senior hydronics manager will help to define hydronic product strategies utilizing market research, independent market studies and feedback gathered from all levels of our customer base, including the engineering community, plumbing and heating contractors, architects, building owners and internal METUS employees.

The senior manager will also be responsible for providing design support, application support and training for hydronic based systems.

The essential functions of the position include, but are not limited to the following :

Product Positioning Plan Formulation and Execution

  • Function as Senior Product Manager for hydronic systems as well as developing cross product expertise.
  • Lead Cross Functional development teams in the design and development of new hydronic products and services through global Mitsubishi Electric Factories, US Engineering Center and other vendors / suppliers.
  • Provides engineering personnel detailed product specifications which identify key products features for inclusion in new products, as well as supporting the determination of future product design and direction
  • Oversight of development of maintenance and design tools
  • Oversight in the development and review of technical training materials for promotion of the hydronics product line.
  • Gather US Market Information and research competitive products to better the METUS Product Portfolio.
  • Develop Partnerships with Industry Leading Manufacturers to help complement our global products to meet the US market needs.

Design and Application Support

  • Provide design, technical and application support to BU Mechanical engineers for hydronic related products.
  • Peer review existing designs and offer advice, insight, and technical information to ensure a successful implementation of Mitsubishi Electric technologies.
  • Develop and implement application software support tools, programs, and information to create strategic advantage, solve market needs, and leverage core capability to increase the knowledge and specification of Mitsubishi solutions.
  • Develop engineering application white papers to address specific business unit concerns. Respected as the Hydronic subject matter expert with extensive knowledge of Domestic Hot Water (DHW) distribution systems in commercial buildings.
  • Create and review technical documentation, literature, and collateral. Technical documentation includes, but is not limited to, application notes, I&O manuals, schematic drawings, submittals, engineering data, and white papers.
  • Lead the creation and implementation of hydronic systems applications-based training to the BU mechanical engineers, consulting-specifying mechanical engineers, distributors, owners, design professionals, and contractors

Product Introduction Management and Life Cycle Management

  • As part of the development process, provides documentation to justify development of new products and features including :
  • Trend analysis and sales projections
  • End of Life product planning life cycle planning
  • Analysis of market data and demand to determine new product pricing needs
  • Perform competitive analysis and market research to support product direction
  • Develop detailed product specifications, outlining product requirements and definition
  • Act as oversees factory liaison for product specification, introduction and life cycle management activities.
  • Manage Launch of New Products utilizing the NPI (New product Introduction) process to the marketplace, including but not limited to :
  • Product Launch Guides and Sales Materials
  • Service / Support Team Training and support materials
  • Engineering, Application, and Design Support to implement new products to market
  • Sales Training and Strategies to successfully meet forecasted sales targets
  • Customer and End User support of new products implemented

Administrative functions associated with the position

  • Develops and manages project timelines and monitor resource allocation
  • Responsible for alignment of internal / external resources to achieve product goals.
  • Tracking and reporting of all product development initiatives and results to company leadership on a regular basis.
  • Supervision of existing product tools and development of new tools
  • Responsible for developing, selecting training and managing product specialist for applications support position.

Subject Matter Expert

  • Serve as SME for hydronic related products and their features and functions
  • Identify product gaps, needs and enhancements, and creates necessary specifications
  • Assist Applications Support / Engineering teams with technical issues as needed including review of application support material
  • Mentor and lead future Hydronic engineers and / or hydronic product managers.
  • Mentor the BU mechanical engineers to ensure technical development and knowledge transfer regarding all current and future hydronic related products.
  • Assist others in development of tools needed to promote the hydronics product line
  • Willing to travel up to 30% to for various Company meetings and training both domestically and possibly internationally
  • Various support functions relating to specific sales activities and opportunities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Education / Experience / Training :

  • 7-12 years mechanical HVAC experience, including design and energy analysis.
  • Prefer P.E. license. Prefer LEED A.P. and CEM accreditation.
  • B.S degree in mechanical engineering or similar technical degree.
  • Experience with commercial DHW building design and distribution systems.
  • Experience with Trane Trace, Carrier HAP, EnergyPro, and EQuest.
  • Experience with AutoCAD and REVIT.
  • Excellent computer skills with Microsoft Office and networking; Strong communication, presentation, training, and technical writing skills;

Analytical approach to problem solving; Team oriented, self-motivated, and like to work hands-on.

  • HVAC / hydronics industry experience required.
  • Product management experience within the HVAC industry preferred
  • Excels in working in and leading cross functional teams.
  • Motivated self-starter comfortable with tight deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
  • Valid Driver’s License with acceptable driving record
  • Team player demonstrating METUS core values including a desire to win together, deliver excellence, drive sustainability, focus on execution and learn continuously.

The base pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $120,000 and $165,000 per year, however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including target bonus plans and discretionary awards.

Subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable plans then in effect, eligible employees may enroll in a 401(k) plan, as well as participate in Company-sponsored medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance plans for the employee and the employee’s eligible dependents.

Employees will also receive 80 hours of vacation per year, 56 hours of paid sick leave annually, and 13 paid holidays throughout the calendar year, depending on hire date.

Employees may also take up to 12 weeks of paid or unpaid parental / disability / emergency / etc. leave, if eligible.
