The role of a Pipefitter encompasses various responsibilities, including installation, testing, and assembly of piping and tubing systems on compressor and pump skid assemblies. The role with different materials, ensuring quality assembly in compliance with blueprints and customer specifications.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Primary focus on measuring and preparing components for welding through a variety of pipe fitting techniques. May fabricate a variety of structural parts from raw materials, may fabricate without fixtures to close tolerances using fixtures and templates or from original layout.
- Installation of piping systems, tubing systems, and key components of large compressor and pump skids.
- Reading blueprints, measuring, cutting, threading, and assembling pipe and tubing.
- Tube bending to specification.
- Utilizes hand tools in necessary layout work, all fabrication shop equipment and fixtures to fabricate parts in an efficient manner.
- Works to directions provided by work orders, prints, or other written instructions in accordance with established and prescribed procedures, specifications and standards of quality and performance. Must be proficient in interpretation of engineering drawings.
- Preferred experience in torch cutting, ARC, MIG and GAS welding, brazing and soldering. May be required to do non-certified TIG welding or certified seal welding commensurate with experience level.
- Assists in kit, unit, and stand assemblies as required to support production flow.
- Utilizes safe working habits and is conscientious to not endanger self, others, equipment, or property. Maintains work areas in a neat and orderly manner to minimize unsafe conditions.
- Strives to maintain high personal productivity level and performs other related duties as assigned as well as other employees when necessary.
Skills & Abilities
Good organizational skills are necessary for inventory specialists to take charge of organizing inventory and improving the efficiency of the selection and shipping process.The ability to manage multiple projects at one time in an efficient and timely manner is important in this position.Good written and verbal communication skills are crucial for negotiating contracts, interviewing new vendors, educating warehouse employees and developing new inventory processes.Inventory specialists need problem-solving skills to come up with ways to improve overall efficiency and overcome inventory problems.Organized and able to work with minimum supervision.Forklift truck license, preferred.Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required.Ability to read engineering drawings.Ability to understand 3-D engineering models preferred.Ability to use a variety of measuring equipment.Ability to understand tolerances and tolerance stack-up.Minimum 3-5 years experience pipefitting.Preferred ability to work with torch cutting, ARC / MIG / Gas welding.Strong mechanical aptitude.Physical Requirements
