OVERVIEW
To coordinate and monitor the involvement of parents in the education of their children; to serve as a liaison between parents, school and community to promote a welcoming environment;
and to provide services to parents and school personnel to facilitate increased student performance.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High School education or equivalent required
- Bilingual in Spanish preferred
- Computer proficiency to include use of basic software applications (Word, Excel, Google Apps, PowerPoint, etc)
- Basic knowledge of current educational academic standards
- Ability to confidently create and present information to adult learners
- Ability to organize, prioritize, take initiative and work independently with minimum supervision
- Ability to effectively communicate (verbal and written) with parents / guardians, district personnel at all levels and outside agencies
- Ability to establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships with parents / guardians, district personnel at all levels and outside agencies
- Ability to maintain organized, comprehensive records for reporting purposes
- Ability and willingness to work flexible and evening hours as needed
- Possess and utilize group leadership skills to organize parental involvement activities
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Coordinate and facilitate family literacy trainings / classes and promote class participation
- Collaborate with teachers and Title I Specialist to provide parent education relevant to student learning
- Build awareness of parental involvement at national, state and local levels and share their resources with school community;
- Connect parents to leadership and volunteer opportunities
- Serve as a liaison between school personnel, parents / guardians, school community and the Title I and Community Education departments
- Serve as a member of Title I Committee / SIAC to help analyze, develop, and implement the School Continuous Improvement Plan
- Attend district meetings and trainings as required
- Compile and maintain information on the school website with resources and activities affecting parental involvement
- Regular and on-time attendance required
- Perform other related duties, as assigned, to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit
