Role Summary :
The Finance Supervisor will support the financial health of the veterinary hospital by supervising accounts receivable (AR), accounts payable (AP), financial reporting, and strategic planning.
This role involves collaborating with department heads on budgeting and forecasting while ensuring effective financial operations.
The Finance Supervisor will also assist hospital leadership in making data-driven decisions, troubleshoot financial issues, and contribute to growth initiatives.
Reporting to the Hospital Services Manager, the Finance Supervisor ensures timely and accurate financial management to support the hospitals overall success.
Responsibilities :
Supervise the accounts receivable and accounts payable functions, ensuring timely billing, collections, and payment processing.
Prepare monthly financial reports, analyzing hospital revenue, expenses, and overall financial performance.
Assist in the creation and management of budgets, forecasts, and financial models to support the hospitals strategic goals.
Analyze key financial metrics and trends, providing actionable insights to hospital leadership.
Collaborate with the Hospital Services Manager to troubleshoot and resolve financial issues, including discrepancies in AR / AP and other financial areas.
Participate in strategic financial planning, working closely with hospital leadership to ensure growth targets are met.
Conduct variance analyses and provide recommendations to improve hospital profitability and financial efficiency.
Oversee financial tracking for capital expenditures and operating expenses, ensuring accurate documentation and reporting.
Monitor and manage hospital cash flow, ensuring the availability of funds for operations and growth.
Serve as a liaison for external auditors and finance consultants when necessary.
Support ad-hoc financial analysis requests from leadership for new projects, initiatives, or operational improvements.
Assist in optimizing hospital financial processes, including improvements to AR / AP operations and overall financial controls.
Other duties as assigned by the Hospital Services Manager.
Knowledge and Skills :
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret financial data and provide strategic insights.
Proficient in financial modeling, budgeting, and forecasting techniques.
Experience with AR / AP processes and a strong understanding of basic accounting principles.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain complex financial concepts.
Ability to manage multiple financial projects simultaneously and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and time management skills.
Knowledge of veterinary or healthcare financial operations is preferred but not required.
Ability to work effectively with hospital leadership and department heads to address financial issues and drive financial performance.
Computer Skills :
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel (advanced level for financial modeling and data analysis).
Experience with financial software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage) and veterinary or healthcare management systems is a plus.
Familiarity with budgeting and forecasting software (e.g., Adaptive Insights, Hyperion, etc.) is beneficial.
Physical Requirements :
May require some light lifting of financial files or supplies up to 20 lbs.
Flexibility to attend meetings outside regular working hours if necessary to align with hospital leadership schedules.
Education :
Bachelors degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field is required.
Advanced degree (MBA or Masters in Finance) or relevant certifications (CPA, CMA, CFA) are a plus but not mandatory.
Experience :
3-5 years of experience in financial planning and analysis, with a focus on budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
Experience managing AR / AP functions.
Experience in the veterinary or healthcare sector is preferred but not required.
Compensation :
$30.00-35.00 per hour
