(Remote) UI/UX Designer

Mid America Computer is seeking a talented UI / UX Designer with experience in modernizing legacy software to join our team.

This person will be responsible for creating intuitive and visually appealing user interfaces for our digital products while modernizing our legacy systems.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to work on exciting projects and collaborate with cross-functional teams to design user interfaces that delight our customers and drive business success.

The role requires a combination of creativity, technical proficiency, and a deep understanding of user-centered design principles and legacy software modernization.

This remote role welcomes candidates anywhere in Canada and the US in the Central timezone. There is potential for up to 20% travel within the US.

A passport is required for CA candidates for the travel.

What your impact will be :

• Supporting stakeholders, product management, and engineers by establishing customer needs and user interface requirements.
• Contributing to the visualization and re-imagination of existing legacy applications by creating wireframe mockups, prototypes, and web-based user interfaces.
• Utilizing iterative development processes and collaborating with a team of professionals to define detailed user interface designs.
• Collaborate with developers to ensure smooth implementation of design solutions.
• Ensure consistency in design across all digital platforms and devices.
• Planning and executing usability testing with prototypes.
• Initiating user champion reviews of interface designs.
• Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in UI / UX design, with a focus on legacy software modernization .

What we are looking for :

• Bachelor's degree in : Design, HCI, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Proven experience designing web, mobile, and desktop applications.
• Demonstrated experience in modernizing legacy software systems to modern platforms.
• Professional knowledge of UI design principles and techniques.
• Experience using image editing software such as Photoshop.
• Experience using Figma or similar UI modeling software.
• Experience with responsive design.
• A solid portfolio, which demonstrates a range of tools and techniques and considerable ROI for a range of clients.
• A good working understanding of UX and Interaction Design.
