Job Summary
This role is ideal for someone passionate about enhancing the quality of data products and driven by a commitment to excellence.
We want a person with expertise at the intersection of data engineering, demographics, and transportation analytics. As a Data Quality Engineer, you will play a key role in validating the consistency and accuracy of our data products over time, working closely with our data scientists and engineers to continuously improve data quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop structured testing plans to validate intermediate and final data products for consistency and reasonableness over time.
- Implement and manage a "Deploy / Not Ready" framework to decide when data products are ready for delivery.
- Identify data quality trends and collaborate with lead data scientists and engineers to develop and execute process improvement initiatives.
- Design, implement, and monitor "Black Box" testing plans from the perspective of clients interacting with our data feeds and API endpoints.
- Collaborate with product and team leads to create and manage "White Box" testing plans.
- Work with data engineers and the client delivery team to identify and address emerging data integrity issues ("unknown unknowns").
- Research and evaluate potential third-party data sources to enhance quality control testing processes.
- Document and maintain Data Governance plans and guidelines for our data products.
Required Qualifications and Skills
MS / BS in Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, Computer Science, analytical City Planning, or Geography (or equivalent degree) with 5+ years of experience in quality control, quantitative analytics, data science, or data engineering.
Master’s degree could be substituted for 2 years of experience.
- Excellent communication skills with a proven ability to explain complex data interactions clearly and concisely, both in written and verbal.
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to confidently present quality control findings to team members.
- Solid understanding of human mobility patterns for daily activities such as shopping, dining, and recreation.
- Proficiency in SQL for debugging and collaborating on ETL and data pipelines.
- Experience with cloud-based platforms such as Google GCP, Amazon AWS, or Microsoft Azure.
- Ability to build and test statistical models.
Salary Range
$115k-$150k
