Trusts & Estates Paralegal
Our client is based in downtown Chicago and focuses on Business & Corporate Law, Trusts & Estates, Taxation, Securities, Real Estate, Non-profits and Sports & Entertainment Law. It serves primarily affluent families, family offices, family foundations and privately held companies.
The right Trusts & Estates Paralegal for this role will assist attorneys in all stages of basic and advanced estate planning and probate processes and should have a firm understanding of court procedures and legal protocols. Responsibilities include assisting in drafting estate planning documents, handling probate administration, and conducting legal research. Our ideal candidate is well organized, is friendly, has strong written and oral communication skills, and has a keen eye for detail.
Skills / Abilities Desired :
- Detail oriented; strong work organization skills, ability to work and problem solve independently
- Proficient in Microsoft Office – specifically MS Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams
- Solid verbal and written communication skills
- High level of professionalism; ability to act with discretion and tact in all situations
- Ability to maintain organized electronic and paper records and produce reports in a timely and desirable manner
- Ability to manage numerous projects in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to be flexible and work more than 46 hours per week or during peak periods
Key Responsibilities :
Assist attorneys in drafting estate planning and probate documentsHelp manage and organize estate and probate filesForm business entitiesConduct legal research relevant to estate planning and probate processesCoordinate with clients, court personnel, and other legal professionalsPrepare and file legal documents with appropriate courtsUpdate and maintain databases and tracking systemsEnsure all deadlines are met in a timely mannerFollow up with clients on necessary paperwork and signaturesAdditional assignments and responsibilities as assignedJob Requirements :
Proven work experience as a paralegal, 2+ years in the field of estate planning or probate required minimumStrong knowledge of probate court procedures and rulesExcellent written and oral communication skillsHighly organized with strong attention to detailProficient in legal research and document draftingAbility to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlinesParalegal certification or degree in legal studies is preferredSalary / Compensation :
