The Environmental Engineering and Consulting team delivers solutions for complex environmental challenges using our regulatory expertise and implementing practical and cost-effective compliance management processes and programs.

We address our clients' biggest concerns around permitting, ecoservices, assessment, and remediation. Our highly trained and experienced engineers and scientists, environmental and remediation specialists, geologists, hydrogeologists, biologists, and environmental compliance specialists work with both public- and private-sector clients, delivering turnkey solutions.

A DAY IN THE LIFE

Our Assistant Project Manager position is located in California but can be performed Remotely.

The Assistant Project Manager directs, coordinates, and exercises functional authority for planning, organizing, controlling, integrating, and completing utility projects within an area of assigned responsibility.

We are seeking an experienced Assistant Project Manager who will be responsible for working with a project team to coordinate project tasks, assist with maintaining project workflow, utilize database software to administer information by updating project status, manage electronic project documents, have good communication skills, and meet client expectations.

The Biologist Assistant Project Manager will direct others on project assignments. This position will apply advanced knowledge typically obtained through advanced education and work experience.

Responsibilities may include Managing projects / processes and working independently with limited supervision-coaching and reviewing the work of team members.

Problems faced can be difficult at times and sometimes complex.

As a key member of the team, this role will be responsible for a full range of activities, including :

  • Coordinate multi-disciplinary biological teams for CEQA and NEPA compliance monitoring and documentation.
  • Maintains positive relationships with clients and public agencies, prepares and reviews biological documentation, develops project budgets and schedules, prepares proposals, and manages contract compliance.
  • Work directly with clients and regulatory agencies to oversee project compliance with biological mitigation measures and with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Conduct natural resource surveys, biological monitoring (as necessary), field team management, and providing specialized site assessments.
  • Proficiency in ArcGIS preferred.
  • Perform biological surveys, report preparation, construction monitoring, and other services related to compliance with the biological and regulatory requirements associated with EI's projects.
  • Biological monitoring duties require in-field decision-making as well as oral and written communication skills.
  • Maintain confidentiality at all times.
  • Exercise safe work practices by following all Company safety rules and OSHA regulations, including attendance at all required safety training programs.
  • Participate in the company's continuous improvement programs and provide support to team efforts.
  • Keep up-to-date and current on industry trends by completing formal training, reviewing professional publications, and attending professional workshops.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

YOUR EXPERTISE AND SKILLS

To perform this job successfully, individuals must be able to perform each duty and responsibility satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and / or ability required.

MINIMUM Qualifications

  • BS or MS in environmental planning, biology, ecology, wetland science, avian or mammal studies, or a similar field.
  • 3 years of professional experience as a biologist (or equivalent) is preferred in California, with experience pertaining to a specialized biological training or field.
  • Knowledge of current environmental regulations, including FESA and CEQA, is preferred.
  • Experience and training in specialized fields (environmental planning or technical science, e.g., botany, wildlife biology, fisheries, wetland ecology, etc.) i.
  • Proven abilities in being detail-oriented and technical writing.
  • Experience conducting field surveys and / or construction monitoring.
  • Knowledge of the flora / fauna of Southern California is preferred.
  • Ability to work under pressure with multiple deadlines and maintain a positive outlook.
  • Proven leadership skills; identifies problems and actively devises appropriate solutions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills (project descriptions)
  • Assist with the management of sub-consultants and agreements
  • Strong organizational and management skills.
  • Ability to work well with and mentor others, to set expectations and to provide input and feedback in a helpful way that fosters accountability.
  • Ability to actively delegate and communicate in a group-oriented setting and establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and leaders.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing document directives and deadlines.
  • Advanced skills with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Knowledge of computer software (Microsoft Suite, Google Suite, AutoCAD, ArcGIS, etc.).
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions to present to supervisors.
  • Organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • This position can be physically demanding and will require work in various working environments / conditions, which requires that an individual be physically capable of canvassing large project areas by foot on various terrain and potentially in inclement weather.
  • The position may involve local travel as needed.
