Purpose

Reporting to the Director of Business Analytics for the University Development Office (UDO), the Senior Business Analyst supports fundraising, constituent-engagement, and operational goals by partnering with UDO and campus stakeholders in the development, deployment, management, and optimization of business processes and technology.

The Senior Business Analyst conducts the documentation, analysis, identification of gaps, and communication of current and future business processes, information systems, and technical solutions with a focus on service delivery.

Responsibilities

Leads cross-functional workgroups or teams in documenting requirements and processes using various elicitation techniques.

Facilitates discussions, builds consensus, and provides documentation supporting the collection, analysis, refinement, and prioritization of functional and technical requirements in alignment with business strategy.

  • Partners with stakeholders and team members to work through shifting priorities and identify issues, risks, dependencies, and impacts as well facilitate developing options and proposals for addressing these items as they arise.
  • Serves as a liaison between the business and technology experts during requirements gathering, design, and throughout the entirety of a project or initiative.
  • Develops charts, diagrams, training material, structured communications, and other relevant documentation to accurately capture and communicate a variety of complex requirements, issues, options, system customizations, and solutions to a broad audience.
  • Leads the planning, development, and execution of test plans from the initial development of use-cases, personas, and stories through user acceptance testing.
  • Leads the evaluation and configuration of business rules within custom, purchased, or cloud-based software packages to meet user requirements.
  • Gathers detailed requests for improvements or changes to the system and implements these changes as appropriate.
  • Automates processes using CRM tools such as process builder, flow, approval processes, and validation rules.
  • Continuously develops expertise as a functional and technical subject matter expert and assists stakeholders in understanding upstream and downstream impacts and dependencies.
  • Serves as a subject matter expert for one or more advancement information system platforms and provides application support, as necessary.
  • Other related functions as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
  • 3+ years of professional experience with a combination of business analysis, information system design, facilitation, data analysis / research, and communications responsibilities.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the fundraising business, key fundraising concepts, and the varying priorities of fundraising organization members.
  • Demonstrated ability to synthesize and clarify complex and / or ambiguous information from multiple sources using a variety of tools and techniques.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize complex tasks into manageable work with meaningful and measurable results.
  • Strong ability to collaborate with functional and technical staff as well as end users.
  • Ability to learn key facets of a new business area and discern what is most important for an initiative or project.
  • Experienced with business process reengineering and identifying opportunities for applying people, process, technology, and / or data to effectively improve outcomes.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and visual communication skills and a demonstrated understanding of appropriate levels of communication.
  • Attention to and appreciation of detail.
  • Self-directed and dedicated to working as a member of a collaborative team.
  • Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. Currently, we are unable to provide work authorization sponsorship.

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree or higher.
  • Additional years of professional experience as a business analyst.
  • Experience working in a development or fundraising office, preferably in a higher education environment.
  • Experience or familiarity with leading university advancement platforms - Affinaquest, Anthology Raise, Blackbaud CRM, Ellucian CRM Advance, Salesforce CRM, UC Innovation Ascend, etc.
  • Experience with marketing platforms - Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Oracle Eloqua, Adobe Experience Cloud, etc.
  • 2+ years of Salesforce Admin or combined Salesforce Admin / Business Analyst experience.
  • Ability to assess the impact of new requirements on Salesforce.org and all upstream and downstream applications, systems and processes, and user adoption.
  • Experience working within the confines of a cloud-based or packaged product to meet user requirements.
  • Experience in the higher education IT industry; knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within higher education IT.
  • Experience with PL / SQL, Python, R, or other structured query or data analysis language.
  • Experience with Tableau, Amazon QuickSight, advanced MS Excel functionality, or other visual communication tool.
  • Experience with UT Austin administrative systems.

Salary Range

$74,000 + depending on qualifications
