As a Registered Nurse (RN) , you will work under the supervision of the Nurse Manager / Clinical Coordinator, where you will assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and supervise individual patient care in accordance with our unit policies and procedures. You will also provide guidance to non-RN personnel and may take on charge responsibilities, ensuring smooth operations across nursing units.

Your Responsibilities

  • Patient Assessment : Continuously assess the physical and psychosocial condition of patients throughout their care journey.
  • Care Planning : Develop, communicate, and document individualized care plans, involving patients, families, and the healthcare team.
  • Implementation : Collaborate with the healthcare team to implement and coordinate care plans effectively.
  • Evaluation : Evaluate the effectiveness of care plans and make necessary adjustments, including referrals when needed.
  • Education : Assess learning needs and provide educational opportunities for patients and families, documenting outcomes.
  • Preceptorship : Serve as a preceptor to new staff, sharing your knowledge and expertise.
  • Charge Nurse Duties : Take on charge nurse responsibilities as required.
  • Performance Standards : Meet expectations for customer service, teamwork, resource utilization, and personal development.
  • Additional Duties : Perform other assigned tasks to ensure the smooth operation of the unit.
  • Neuro Patient Care : Demonstrate competency in caring for neuro patients, including assessments and airway management.
  • Special Procedures : Assist physicians during special neuro procedures and manage patients with tracheostomies.
  • Equipment Proficiency : Show skill in using equipment and caring for patients in halo braces and on ventilators.

Qualifications

Education : Graduate of an accredited school of nursing; BSN preferred. Proficient in using computer software, including electronic patient records, and capable of conducting literature searches for patient care.

Licensure : Valid State of Connecticut Registered Nurse License.

Special Skills : BLS certification required.
