FUNCTION : Responsible for proper cleaning and handling of all utensils, pots, pans, dishes, glassware and silverware in the dishwasher area.
Helps with food prep and side orders, make tray deliveries to residents.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Washes and inspects all dishware and glassware. Stores clean utensils, dishes and glassware in proper places.
- Keeps dishwashing machine and dish room area in clean operating condition. Reports any malfunctions or breakdowns of equipment to Dietary Manager.
- Sweeps and mops kitchen area.
- May assist servers with serving and bringing in dishes to kitchen.
- May deliver meals to resident in their apartments.
- Stores food and supplies upon delivery. Stock shelves. Rotate stock.
- Remove and take out trash to designated areas. Clean garbage cans with steam / water.
- Clean and prepare food when needed.
- Set up banquet tables
WORKING RELATIONSHIPS :
Reports to the Dietary Manager or in their absence, the cook on duty.
QUALIFICATIONS :
- Experience and / or knowledge of meal preparations for large groups. Ability to work in a team environment and be a team player, work flexible shifts, handle multiple tasks at a time and communicate effectively verbally or written.
- Must enjoy working with the elderly and be able to accept constructive criticism. Ability to interact with residents and staff and must maintain good personal hygiene and wear a uniform.
- The following equipment is used, but not limited to, electric slicer, mixer, oven, stove, microwave, grill, dishwasher, fryer, toaster, coffee maker, and various other kitchen utensils and appliances, including knives.
- Ability to lift a minimum of pounds; stand for a extended period of time, carry, reach, bend, grasp and feel.
