Position Highlights : 9A Medical- Surgical
- Number of beds on unit : 24 private beds
- Nurse to Patient ratio : 1 : 5 (occasionally 1 : 6)
- Department culture and resources : 9A is a fast-paced unit with medically complex patients. The unit leadership focuses on reinforcing teamwork and individual growth through employee engagement and various opportunities within the organization.
- Frequent nursing skills / equipment used : Nursing assessments, medication administration, collaboration with multiple disciplines, and the ability to communicate patient care needs with the care team.
Registered Nurse Responsibilities :
- Performs all responsibilities required by unit specific to the scope of service and maintains up-to-date and accurate documentation of nursing care provided.
- Completes initial patient assessment, develops appropriate plan of care, and modifies plan based on continuous evaluation.
- Takes responsibility for patient and employee safety, communicates with others to resolve issues, and offers constructive feedback to peers.
- Receives patient Bedside Shift Report, delegates patient care tasks, completes and documents basic RN patient care activities, and provides patient medications utilizing the patient 5 Rights.
- Maintains patient safety, positive attitude, and effective communication within the healthcare team.
