Job Summary

The Workday Senior Manager ( Absence and / or Time Tracking ) leads a team of colleagues which may include managers who lead through others (manager of managers).

The role collaborates at the practice area level with Resource Management, Human Resources, and Practice Leadership to determine practice alignment, training, and internal facing projects as well as continue their area of focus project work.

Manages resources for multiple projects, responsible for ensuring timely and quality execution of client deliverables and consulting with clients on Workday projects.

Drives the development of solutions to complex problems / projects across multiple domains or large clients. Has exposure to many large, complex, global clients.

Leads the most complex Large Enterprise implementations (CDS) / projects, and leads portions of client sales meetings as Subject Matter Expert / Advisor.

Key Responsibilities

People Manager Based

  • Hires, on-boards, and mentors new colleagues through partnership with the recruiting team.
  • Assists colleagues in goal setting, solicits 360 feedback, assesses performance, provides feedback to colleagues, and reviews compensation periodically to ensure competitiveness, per business requirements.
  • Conducts at least monthly one-on-one performance and coaching discussions with team members.
  • Executes onboarding plan for the new hires with a focus on increasing the certification pass rate and accelerating assimilation.
  • Partners with Resource Management on project staffing to ensure project assignments are properly aligned to team members’ skill sets and personal preferences.
  • Coaches and develops colleagues through constructive feedback, management of project assignments, job requirements and capabilities, as well as guiding their overall career paths.
  • Ensure the team's individual internal resumes, ETC’s and timecards are accurately maintained and up to date.
  • Actively reviews and presents team members for promotional opportunities to senior leadership.
  • Ensures accurate, timely feedback to colleagues including managing difficult conversations effectively
  • Cascades information to team members via appropriate channels.
  • Monitors utilization of team members to maximize revenue potential.

Project Delivery-Based :

  • Responsible for leading one or more areas of the largest and most complex projects and / or multiple concurrent projects potentially over longer periods of duration.
  • Responsible for managing all stages of the project for the client, from planning and design phases through testing and deployment.
  • Responsible for coordinating the work of others, regardless of people management responsibilities.
  • Manage project FTE, scope, budget, quality, and timeline.
  • Motivate colleagues to think outside of the box and bring ideas to fruition
  • Understand agendas and others’ perspectives, recognizing and effectively balancing the interests and needs of one's own group with those of the broader organization.
  • Develop processes and methodology within and across HCM / FINs
  • Provide a proactive interface between the external clients and the internal staff to ensure effective coordination and delivery of Workday projects.
  • Identify and consult to touch points, dependencies, and integration aspects across and within Workday to provide a complete solution.
  • Champion a Workday product area within and outside of the team.
  • Responsible for client delivery and project satisfaction related to domain area.
  • Integrate with other areas across Alight and functions to provide a complete solution.
  • Accountable for one or more areas of large, complex clients. Ability to understand and articulate the strategic value of integrated HCM and / or FINs processes with strong business acumen.
  • Lead substantive internal initiatives across domain or practice and owns / maintains substantive portions of internal content and / or methodology.
  • Significantly contribute and lead individual and colleague efforts to develop internal resources via mentoring, coaching, and directing work.
  • Visibility as an expert within the Workday ecosystem product groups / chats.
  • Lead portions of client sales meetings. Participates in client proposal development across multiple proposals.
  • Create work estimates and solutions for small to large bodies of work.

Additional business area-specific duties and responsibilities :

Senior Configuration / Integration Manager

  • Manages a team(s) responsible for ensuring timely execution of ongoing client deliverables and consulting with clients on services high complexity clients.
  • Manages two complex clients
  • Develop solutions to complex problems / projects across multiple domains for client.
  • Provides a proactive interface between the external clients and the internal staff to ensure effective coordination and delivery of Workday projects
  • Directs the work of others aligned with the client to meet the client and deal model needs
  • Manages team to forecast
  • Oversees overall team delivery, ensuring on time and quality delivery
  • Ensures team follows documented processes
  • Stabilize 4+ clients successfully transitioning them from implementation to AMS services

Knowledge, Education, Certification, Skills & Technical Proficiency

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in technical, business, or financial discipline.
  • Workday certified in HCM, Payroll, and / or Financials with ongoing successful recertification.
  • Proficient in handling difficult conversations with strong soft skills for resolution.
  • Strong communication skills, including synthesizing information into clear messages.
  • Consultative skills to guide client and internal discussions to prompt solutions.
  • Experience implementing complex business solutions under multiple deadlines.
  • Effective leadership of multiple concurrent projects.
  • Ability to prioritize and organize work for timeliness and quality.
  • Adaptability in fast-paced environments with a creative and analytical approach.
  • Advanced experience in Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Problem-solving skills, including issue troubleshooting and escalation.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, articulating complex messages clearly.
  • Commitment to delivery excellence and client satisfaction
  • Initiative and curiosity to build skills in various areas through internal training and Workday documentation.

Work Experience

  • 10-12 years relevant work experience required
  • 3-5+ people management experience.
  • 4+ years’ Workday consulting experience
  • Experience defining global HR business and systems strategy, developing system requirements and implementing practical business solutions under multiple deadlines
  • Process transformation experience preferred
  • Deep knowledge of specific domain(s). Preferred areas include :
  • Single domain : Core HCM / Comp, Payroll, Recruiting, Data Conversion, Integrations, Reporting.
  • Pair domains : Any two or more of the following : Core / Advanced Comp, Talent, Time Tracking, Absence, Learning, Benefits.
  • Multi-domains (pillars) : Financials-Accounting, Financials-Revenue, Financials-Spend
