We are seeking a work study student for the Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs be the main receptionist for the Student Affairs Administrative Suite and provide essential office support, clerical duties, and assist with inquiries from students, employees, and the community.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties In this role, you will perform a variety of tasks under minimal supervision, supporting the Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs.
Your primary responsibilities will include filing, scanning, answering phones, relaying messages, drafting official communications, managing the shared office email inbox, and processing electronic documents for the Vice President’s signature.
This role involves handling confidential and sensitive information. Essential Responsibilities and Duties Continued Minimum Qualifications
- One (1) year of higher education (minimum of 30 credits)
- Trade off 1 : 1 in experience / education requirement
- SLCC student in good academic standing, currently enrolled, and work-study eligible.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bilingual or multilingual preferred
- Work experience in a higher education setting
- Experience with Office 365, Banner, and SLCC enrollment procedures
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Administrative and Clerical Proficiency :
- Demonstrated excellence in providing secretarial and administrative support in a high-visibility setting.
- Proficiency in clerical functions such as filing, photocopying, printing, scanning, mailing, answering phone calls, taking messages, gathering / tracking information, making referrals, ordering office supplies, and distributing mail.
- Familiarity with Banner, Canvas, CampusGroups, and other technological platforms.
Communication and Interpersonal Skills :
- Strong written communication, editing, and proofreading skills.
- Effective interpersonal problem-solving and public relations skills with a range of people.
- Strong communication skills to maintain good working relationships across the college.
- Excellent customer service skills.
Organizational and Time Management Abilities :
- Ability to complete work within established timelines and deadlines.
- Strong time management, organization, and critical thinking skills to research and analyze information.
- Ability to perform duties with minimal supervision, follow written and oral instructions effectively, and demonstrate strong work ethics.
- Ability to work well under pressure and adapt flexibly to changing situations.
Knowledge of College Operations :
- Understanding of college resources and enrollment procedures, including financial aid and course registration.
- Ability to work with diverse groups, including students, faculty, and staff from various academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds, including those with disabilities.
Decision-Making and Judgment :
Sound judgment and decision-making skills.
Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of people with a variety of abilities and backgrounds, to maintain good working relationships across the College.
