Counselor Job Summary :
To assess symptoms and provide out-patient counseling services for clients and families, if needed, to meet their psychosocial needs.
Primary Duties
- Facilitate individual, group, and family psychotherapy as needed.
- Assist clients and psychiatrist with appropriate community planning and follow up treatment.
- Coordinate referrals to clinically appropriate levels of care.
- Collaborate with community agencies and other mental health care providers as needed.
- Discuss and review individualized care plans with patient and treatment team.
- Be an active and participating member of the treatment team.
- Act as an advocate for all clients and families as appropriate.
- Create and foster a work environment that is consistent with the Mission, Vision and Values of the Aultman Health Foundation.
- Supports strategic organizational goals.
- Abide by the Aultman Code of Conduct at all times.

Qualifications
- Graduate of approved school with a master’s degree in social work, counseling or related field. LISW, LPCC preferred.
- Experience in providing evidence-based treatment, including short term therapy.
- Valid licensure in the State of Ohio.
- One year of experience in an out-patient treatment setting.
- Refined written and oral communication skills.
- Knowledge of managed care concepts in relation to financial aspects of client care.
- Must be able to cope with the emotional and mental stress of the position and deadlines imposed on specific duties.
- Refined organizational skills with a well-developed style of diplomacy, assertiveness, and a tolerance for ambiguity.
- Able to use critical thinking skills, problem solving abilities and an understanding of systems and change process.
- Able to function independently, with autonomy, displaying personal integrity and always maintaining confidentiality.
- Able to work with all levels of the multidisciplinary healthcare team.
- Refined negotiating skills and the ability to deal with conflict resolution.
- Demonstrates leadership skills and the ability to delegate tasks.
- Functions in the role as client / family advocate, intervening as needs indicate.
- Dresses in professional manner.
Working Conditions
- Works 8 to 10 hours per day, adjusting hours to meet the customer’s needs.
- Must be in good physical and mental health and maintain an excellent attendance record.
- Must adhere to Aultman Health Foundation policies and procedures.
- Must fulfill position description requirements.
- Is subject to frequent interruptions during performance of duties.
- Must be able to utilize computers / word processing.
Annual Requirements
