Counselor Job Summary :

To assess symptoms and provide out-patient counseling services for clients and families, if needed, to meet their psychosocial needs.

Primary Duties

  • Facilitate individual, group, and family psychotherapy as needed.
  • Assist clients and psychiatrist with appropriate community planning and follow up treatment.
  • Coordinate referrals to clinically appropriate levels of care.
  • Collaborate with community agencies and other mental health care providers as needed.
  • Discuss and review individualized care plans with patient and treatment team.
  • Be an active and participating member of the treatment team.
  • Act as an advocate for all clients and families as appropriate.
  • Create and foster a work environment that is consistent with the Mission, Vision and Values of the Aultman Health Foundation.
  • Supports strategic organizational goals.
  • Abide by the Aultman Code of Conduct at all times.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of approved school with a master’s degree in social work, counseling or related field. LISW, LPCC preferred.
  • Experience in providing evidence-based treatment, including short term therapy.
  • Valid licensure in the State of Ohio.
  • One year of experience in an out-patient treatment setting.
  • Refined written and oral communication skills.
  • Knowledge of managed care concepts in relation to financial aspects of client care.
  • Must be able to cope with the emotional and mental stress of the position and deadlines imposed on specific duties.
  • Refined organizational skills with a well-developed style of diplomacy, assertiveness, and a tolerance for ambiguity.
  • Able to use critical thinking skills, problem solving abilities and an understanding of systems and change process.
  • Able to function independently, with autonomy, displaying personal integrity and always maintaining confidentiality.
  • Able to work with all levels of the multidisciplinary healthcare team.
  • Refined negotiating skills and the ability to deal with conflict resolution.
  • Demonstrates leadership skills and the ability to delegate tasks.
  • Functions in the role as client / family advocate, intervening as needs indicate.
  • Dresses in professional manner.

Working Conditions

  • Works 8 to 10 hours per day, adjusting hours to meet the customer’s needs.
  • Must be in good physical and mental health and maintain an excellent attendance record.
  • Must adhere to Aultman Health Foundation policies and procedures.
  • Must fulfill position description requirements.
  • Is subject to frequent interruptions during performance of duties.
  • Must be able to utilize computers / word processing.

Annual Requirements

The completion of all annual requirements is mandatory every year.
