What We're Looking For : We seek a dedicated and experienced Director of Childcare Operations to lead our childcare operations.

You should have a background in early childhood development, strong administrative skills, and a heart for serving children and families.

Key Responsibilities

Administration :

  • Operate the Children's Programs in compliance with NC licensing standards for child-teacher ratios, teacher qualifications, and program quality.
  • Create an environment that instills confidence in parents regarding their children's care and well-being.
  • Ensure the physical environment meets NC licensing standards for health, sanitation, nutrition, and safety.
  • Manage all new employee licensing paperwork, including qualification letters and training requirements.
  • Develop and communicate daily and weekly schedules for all classroom and support staff.
  • Monitor the maintenance of COS vans, ensuring they are fueled, serviced, and clean.
  • Supervise the requisition of necessary supplies, equipment, and materials for program activities.
  • Conduct interviews and hire qualified staff, providing comprehensive orientation and training.
  • Manage the enrollment process, including fee collection and maintaining accurate student records.
  • Maintain organized paper and electronic files, records, and schedules using ProCare, Microsoft Office, Google Docs, and Google Calendar.
  • Promote COSKids programs to prospective clients through tours and outreach efforts.

Leadership of Programs :

  • Establish and execute policies that ensure the well-being of children, including : Developmentally appropriate curriculum, Positive behavior management plans, Trauma-informed care
  • Create a respectful environment that values diverse cultures and family backgrounds.
  • Foster strong relationships with children and families, being responsive to their needs.
  • Ensure classroom care adheres to safety and licensing regulations.
  • Maintain high levels of communication with families through parent handbooks, newsletters, and other updates.
  • Provide opportunities for parental growth and education.
  • Ensure the confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Prepare monthly reports for the Board and coordinate the requisition of supplies while adhering to the program's budget.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of children's programs.

Key Qualifications :

  • Education : Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Development or a related field (an Associate degree may be considered).
  • Credentials : NC Child Care Administrative Credentials.
  • Experience : At least 5 years of leadership experience in childcare with a solid understanding of child development and developmental curriculum.
  • Interpersonal Skills : Ability to connect well with parents, children, and staff.
  • Flexibility : Must adapt to the daily challenges of a childcare environment and be available during varied work hours.
  • Mission Based : Share our mission to strengthen our community by nurturing local families with educational, financial and spiritual support.
  • Compliance : Pass NC state requirements, including fingerprint and background checks, TB test, and annual physical exam.
  • Certifications : Must possess or be willing to obtain certifications in Pediatric CPR / First Aid, BSAC, Playground Safety, ITS / SIDS, and Emergency Preparedness within 8 weeks of hire.
