The Retail Construction Project Manager will oversee the overall direction, completion, and financial outcomes of assigned construction projects, focusing on the retail sector, including high-end stores.
Applicants must have 5+ years of experience in retail construction, with a preference for mall experience and high-end finishes.
Fluency in Spanish is required . Candidates should have current or previous experience working for a General Contractor.
For applicants in the Northwest, the role includes managing projects in both the U.S. and Canada.
The initial scope of this role will be mall spaces and building out the new brand image of a fashion retail subsidiary of a multinational fashion design, manufacturing, and retailing group which includes high end finishes.
The Project Manager must have experience managing the planning stages of a project all the way through execution.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
- Lead and manage retail construction projects including tenant improvements, building renovations, expansions, and ground-up work across retail stores, restaurants, gas stations, EV charging stations, and distribution centers.
- Manage project development from inception through completion, working closely with consultants, contractors, vendors, and internal teams.
- Handle project phases, including entitlement, design, permitting, bidding, contracting, construction, and store start-up / close-out.
- Administer contracts, budgets, change orders, and project schedules, ensuring projects are completed on time, within scope, and under budget.
- Provide leadership and oversight for multiple sites across various states and, for Northwest applicants, in Canada.
- Regularly monitor project progress, identify and mitigate risks, and implement proactive problem-solving strategies.
- Ensure compliance with local codes, regulations, and company standards in both U.S. and Canadian projects.
- Travel extensively (up to 90%) to manage on-site needs, communicate with stakeholders, and oversee project execution.
- Create and maintain project documentation and provide regular updates to clients and leadership, ensuring alignment with project goals.
Qualifications :
- Bachelor’s degree in construction management, architecture, engineering, or related field; or 5+ years of equivalent experience in lieu of degree.
- 5+ years of experience in retail construction , with a strong preference for high-end finishes and mall experience .
- Previous or current experience working for a General Contractor .
- Fluency in Spanish is required.
- Experience managing projects across multiple locations and states , with Northwest applicants expected to manage projects in Canada.
- Strong knowledge of building and construction standards, ability to read and interpret complex project documents.
- Proven experience with budgeting, forecasting, and financial oversight.
- PMP certification is preferred .
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
Physical Demands :
Must meet physical requirements for frequent travel and on-site project management.
